What did I do/buy this weekend? (February 24-25, 2018)

Hello, everybody! What a fun weekend! I did a lot of fun things this weekend and even completed some art! Come see what I did this weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

On Saturday, LOCMom and I went to Kohl’s since i had to return two things there. Didn’t get my money back, but I did get 12 bucks in store credit back and you betcha’ I took advantage of that! And what better way to spend store credit is to hit up the clearance sections of the store first? ๐Ÿ™‚ In oneย of the clearence sections, I found the most adorable wallet! It was from one of Kohl’s designer brands they sold in store and it was marked down to $6.69! Original price 39 bucks! $6.69 was more than generous for a fancy schamncy new wallet, so I decided to purchase it!

Check it out! ๐Ÿ˜€

There were a few paint scratches on the wallet I did find after purchasing it, but for 8 bucks, I was fine with them in the end. ๐Ÿ™‚ Can’t see em’ in the picture anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚

Then, LOCMomย and I went to See’s Candy for a free sample! I had a maple walnut chocolate! After that, we went home.

And when I got home, after perusing the internet for a bit, I finally put some J-Pop on and got to work and finished my latest picture, or fanart! It got inked and everything! Took me until around 11:00PM to finish the picture though, but I think it turned out good! I know 11:00PM is late to finish a picture, but in the world of an artist, sometimes artists work through the night and through the wee hours of the early morning just to get pictures done. I know I have in the past. ๐Ÿ™‚ I will be showing off two of my latest pieces of fanart later this week, so please look forward to seeing them! โค

After working on my fanart, I went to bed.

Money Spent on Saturday

  • Black Flower Wallet (bought with Kohl’s refund money credit) – $7.80

Total Amount Spent: $7.80

On Sunday, before going to the Frugalpants Grocery Store, or Winco, I decided to go and feed the birds! The rats with wings pigeons were also there wanting food like always. Got to see some old friends and met a Canadian Geese couple who were both very nice. ๐Ÿ™‚ I told them I expected babies from them, but I’m not sure if they understood me, haha. ๐Ÿ˜›

After the birds, I finally hit up the Frugalpantsย Groceryย Store for things I couldn’t cook in an over because our gas oven died on us this weekend. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Booooooooo. So I got some romaine lettuce and ground turkey in bulk since you don’t have to have a stove to prepare that in. ๐Ÿ™‚ So much for cooking chicken thighs for the rest of the month. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Then after I got home, I did some dishes and used Bar Keeper’s Friend on a small baking sheet of ours and it looks sparkly new! No pictures of that, but the gray parts on it are not dull anymore which is wonderful! ๐Ÿ™‚

I also bought some fluffy house slippers for LOCMom at the Frugalpants Grocery Store for 99 cents from their clearance winter stuff, but alas, they did not fit her in the end, so I ended up keeping them! They are kind of noisy on hard surfaces, but at least they are cushioned and were only 99 cents in the end. ๐Ÿ™‚ I will add them to my house slipper collection. – insert laugh/cry emoji here –

After doing the dishes, I just relaxed all evening. ๐Ÿ˜€

Money Spent on Sunday

  • Ground Turkey (bulk size) – $8.78
  • Crimini Mushrooms (2) – $0.54
  • Avocados (3) – $2.04
  • Bananas – $0.88
  • Strawberries – $1.98
  • Romain Lettuce (bulk size – $1.98
  • Organic Canned Kidney Beans (1 can) – $0.98
  • Fluffy House Slippers (on clearance) – $0.99

Total Amount Spent: $18.24

So a very good weekend! Can’t wait for the next one! ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

How was your weekend?

Picking up old hobbies + my current hobbies :)

Hey, everybody! Today I am going to talk about something very frugal! And that topic is some of my old and current hobbies!

Besides being frugal, in my past, I have always been an artist. I knew that I was an artist when I first started school and I held up a piece of artwork in kindergarten and then said to myself, “I am an artist!” Not bad for self realizing a life purpose at young age. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Then later on in life when I was in my 20’s, I realized I am also an awesome cool writer as well. ๐Ÿ™‚ Still working on becoming a cool published writer though. Someday! ๐Ÿ˜€

But the frugal hobby I have recently picked back up was art. For the past few years, I was not drawing a lot of art because I was not really inspired by a lot of things in order for me to draw a really cool picture. But since recently, I decided to pick my pencil up again and start drawing artwork! I’m really excited to be able to possibly share a few of my pieces on my blog even though my blog is not really about my art. But hey, it’s my blog and doing art is pretty frugal, so I would say it fits right in. ๐Ÿ™‚ Especially if the artwork is on printer paper and can be stored away easily. That always satisfies my minimalist side of me and artistic side of me.

I have one recent piece that I will not show here in this blog post, but in another blog post series about my art. So please stayed tune for that! ๐Ÿ™‚

My art style I specialize in is traditional art. Black and white pen art especially. In the 6th grade, I was taught by a fabulous art teacher the techniques of crosshatching and pointillism using a black ink pen and it has stayed with me since. I would like to branch out into to color someday, but me and color don’t really mix. But maybe someday. ๐Ÿ™‚

I will also tell you about my current hobbies as well. One of my hobbies, or lifestyle, is also being a minimalist. Contrary to popular belief, minimalism just isn’t all white walls with white furniture or living out of a backpack. My wonderful readers, minimalism is anything you want it to be! ๐Ÿ˜€ Only having what you need and love… Aย place for everything and everything in its place… That is minimalism to me. ๐Ÿ™‚ And I must say I roll with the minimalist wave pretty well! Although I can be a little messy at times like falling behind on my laundry. ๐Ÿ˜› But doesn’t everyone? ๐Ÿ™‚

As I have said earlier, I also like to write. Either working on my current original story or sometimes a fanfiction is something I like to do. And blogging, of course! ๐Ÿ™‚

Another hobby I enjoy participating in is reading manga and watching anime. Well, I like reading my favorite manga series more instead of watching them. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have been participating in this hobby ever since grade school and I enjoy it a lot. โค It is always nice to dive into other worlds and read about cool characters in manga, or Japanese comics, doing cool things. I enjoy watching anime (Japanese cartoons) as well because I am always exposed to cool Japanese music, or J-Pop songs, from anime that I love listening to sometimes. Of course, the only reason I do not like watching anime very much compared to reading manga is that sometimes anime is just an advertisement to get you to read a manga. It works a lot of the time, but it is always incomplete never finishing a series it starts. That’s what makes me mad about it. But some anime does not pull this dirty trick and actually continues a series and becomes an ongoing show. Those kinds of anime usually are some I can appreciate. ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, besides minimalism, I also like being organized. Did you know that I liked being organized so much that I wanted to become a professional organizer? Well yeeeeeaah… That didn’t happen. But I can tell you that my closet is very spick and span and you could find almost anything in it since everything is so orderly. Yup, talk about the good life right there, haha. ๐Ÿ™‚

And my last hobby is cooking! Sometimes on the weekends, I like to try out new recipes I find on cooking blogs and cross my fingers they turn out successful. Most do, but a few are duds. The dud ones always suck because you spend so much money buying the ingredients for them and then they turn out bad. I mean, really? ๐Ÿ˜ก So yeah, cooking is always an adventure! ๐Ÿ™‚

Alas, I believe that wraps up all of my hobbies I have currently! All of them are pretty fun and mostly frugal activities that I participate in! However, expensive hobbies I avoid like theย plague. These hobbies include anythingย thatย needs pricey clothing or equipment. Just… no. > _>

What are your hobbies?

What Did I Do/Buy This Presidents’ Day Weekend? (February 17-19, 2018)

Heya’ everybody! I hope to get things back to normal blog post wise around here this week, but I certainly was a working on some hobbies of mine all last week and this weekend! Today’s post is a special 3-day post since not a lot of exciting things happened to me this weekend, so come see what I did! ๐Ÿ™‚

On Saturday, I went to See’s Candy and got a free sample! I also tried their mint scotchmellow chocolate that was really good and tasted like chocolate chip mint ice cream! Yummo! Then I went to Goodwill to just peruse the aisles when I came across a rope cat scratcher. Naturally, it didn’t have a price tag on it, so I had to inquire somebody about that. They then came out from the back and told me it was 10 bucks. 10 BUCKS FOR A USED SMALL CAT SCRATCHER. When I can get one new at Wal-Mart for 12 bucks. Sheesh, who are they kidding? Goodwill, you are a thrift store, not a department store! As you can guess, that thing did not come home with me.

I didn’t find anything besides that though. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Came home with nothing. Sometimes that happens.

Money Spent on Saturday

Two Chocolate Pieces – $1.85

Total Amount Spent: $1.85

On Sunday, LOCAunt came up to visit us for a few days and we had Chinese food for dinner! Man, was that ever good! I think I gained like 2 pounds though because I ate so much… Just gotta’ start over again I guess.ย Oh well, I think the food I ate was worth it. ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t believe I spent any money on Sunday though. Lot’s of visiting with LOCAunt. ๐Ÿ™‚

Money Spent on Sunday

Total Amount Spent: $0.00

On Monday, LOCMom, LOCAunt, and I met up with LOCCousinJ at Goodwill for 50% off day and LOCCousinJ bought a cute pair of Wrangler jeans for her daughter, LOCCousinO! As for me, I did not find a new pea coat like jacket or shorts that I was looking for, but oh well. Can’t win em’ all. ๐Ÿ™‚

After Goodwill, we all went home and I played Mancala with LOCAunt and we each won a game! Mancala is a great way to make time pass by. ๐Ÿ˜€

Money Spent on Monday

Blue Sweater – $4.00

Total Amount Spent: $4.00

So all and all, pretty quiet this weekend! But my life is usually quiet besides shopping trips and grocery shopping, so I can’t complain too much. ๐Ÿ™‚
