What did I do/buy this Super Bowl 2018 Weekend? (February 3 – February 4, 2018)

Hiya’ everybody! Sorry for no weekly post this week. : ( I am 99% sure I will have a weekly post next week, so stayed tuned! But in the mean time, come see what I did this weekend!

Since I just did mostly shopping this weekend, I will just combine Saturday and Sunday’s expenses into one and tell you about my shopping adventures! This weekend, I did a lot of Dollar Tree shopping! Mainly for budgeted items from my budget! I kind of went over my Operation Christmas Child (OCC) budget of $5.00 since I wanted to fill up two boxes I have been packing since they are almost full, so I decided to splurge a bit on them. The splurge was only $6.00, but I got some Hotwheel cars, floss, and head bands. Anything to get those boxes full. I plan on spending at least one more dollar on a circular brush for my girl box that I am packing currently, but that will be it for the month. πŸ™‚

Then I purchased a small storage box for a dollar for our Mancala Beads for our Mancala boards. Our Mancala boards are not your typical Mancala boards because they are pretty schmancy. πŸ˜› One was made in the Philipines which I found at Goodwill for $3.19 and retails for around 80 bucks new! The other LOCMom found at Goodwill in the home decor section and it was listed for $5.19. It was also made in the United States and by a company that charges pricey prices for their well made wood products! LOCMom and I have decided we want to start collecting cool looking Mancala boards, so we are now looking out at thrift stores for them! πŸ™‚

Check out our awesome Mancala boards!

The lizard looking board was made in the Philippines and the other was made in the United States! Pretty schweet game boards, huh? πŸ™‚

LOCMom and I also had Chinese food on Saturday! Since I was craving some Chinese pot stickers, I decided to order myself a side of them. Man, I gotta’ find a way to make these bad boys at home since they are so good! Then I can have as many as I want, haha. πŸ˜€ Chinese pot stickers are on the top left corner!

I also bought some Cool Haus Chocolate Lava ice cream at the Spendypants Grocery store! It was for Super Bowl Sunday. πŸ™‚ For my overseas readers who are not familiar with Super Bowl Sunday, Β Super Bowl Sunday is an unofficial American holiday that celebrates a day with a game of football. You know, with the almond brown shaped ball, not the black and white ball. πŸ˜› I know you guys call soccer football in your countries, but we refer to our game played with the brown almond shaped ball as football. πŸ™‚ However, in the past years, I have grown to care less and less about football and only watch the Super Bowl for the half time show. The half time is a show during the half of the football game where big name pop stars and/or singers sing their musical hits for the entire football stadium’s audience and everyone usually likes it! I certainly enjoyed Justin Timberlake singing this year during the half time show and find that if football or the commercials don’t interest you, the half time show is usually worth the watch! πŸ™‚ I’m afraid I am just not a fan of football players giving each other brain damage as they play this game orΒ even interested in football in general, so I’m meh about the whole game really. : |

I also bought Valentine’s Day greeting cards at Dollar Tree and will be sending out these cards to all of my family and friends this year! I always send out holiday cards on every major holiday because believe it or not, some people still like receiving greeting cards these days including myself. πŸ™‚ Plus, since I am sending out Valentine’s to everyone, no one will feel left out on Valentine’s Day since everyone is going to get a card that day from me! ❀ So win-win all around. πŸ™‚

I also did some MAJOR cleaning around the house! I picked up things in my room, organized, cleaned my bathroom, did laundry and such. Man, things are looking spiffy at the moment after all of my cleaning! πŸ™‚ In general, since I am a minimalist, I can’t stand having to live in a messy or disorganized space. Everything must be in order and properly organized. Everything in it’s place and a place for everything and such. It all makes me happy. πŸ™‚

So let’s see what I spent this weekend!

Money Spent on Saturday and Sunday

  • Valentine’s Day Greeting Cards Budgeted Item) Β – $13.00 (for 26 cards, 2 for $1.00 cards)
  • OCC Gifts (Normally Budgeted $5.00 Item) Β – $11.00
  • Medicated Lip Balm (for my cracked wintery lips :C ) – $1.00
  • Bag Fee – $0.20 ($0.10 cents a bag)

Total Amount Spent: $25.20

Yeah, that OCC category I splurged on a bit hurts now that I see the numbers. : ( Still going to buy one more thing for it and that will be it for that category this month. I really have to start bringing in my own bags to Dollar Tree though so I can eliminate that darn bag fee. Grr, I will start working on that. > . <;

How was your Super Bowl weekend?

  1. A couple of questions for you…can you explain more about mancala sometime? I don’t know anything about it. Also, how many OCC boxes do you make per year? It sounds like a terrific project. I’ve heard of it but don’t know a lot about that either. I love your holiday card sending too. I kind of like getting cards but I don’t get many and shame on me, I rarely send them. 😬

    1. Mancala is a game that I think orignated in Africa and is played differently all over the world. πŸ™‚ But the main object of the game is to get the most stones in your side of the board’s well. Maybe I will write up a post sometime explaining this very frugal game. πŸ™‚

Every month, for the OCC boxes, I buy about 5 items from Dollar Tree. Sometimes more items that are cheap enough throughout the month if I think they are good quality enough for the OCC boxes. On Operation Christmas Child’s website, there are age categories for each type of box to pack and I do the age category 5-9 since I find it is the most affordable for me to shop for. πŸ™‚ The nice part about OCC boxes is that you don’t have to make one right before collection time at the end of the year, you can make boxes year round! That is what I do. ^ _^

I find making holiday cards is a labor of love since they take me a few hours to make and decorate. πŸ™‚ But I love to do it anyway. ❀

  2. Nice redesign of your blog. Looks good!

I bought a box of 32 Hello Kitty valentines (the small kind sent by kids) for $1.99. They are so cute. I will put them in a regular sized envelope and send them out to family members. I did buy a funny Valentine’s card for my husband. πŸ™‚

    1. Aww, thank you! ❀ Yes, I was trying to get my blog to look a little more minimalist design wise with a free theme, but someday I may have to bite the bullet and buy an inexpensive minimalist theme for me blog. πŸ™‚ Not ready to do that quite yet though!

Oh my gosh, I think I saw those Hello Kitty Valentines! They were at Safeway right? πŸ˜€ They were really cute, but I opted for Grumpy Cat Valentines this year and some cute pet ones for family members who are not familiar with Grumpy Cat and his grumpiness. πŸ˜›
