Hello, everybody! I sincerely apologize for not having a Weekend Update last week. I was getting ready to go out of town on Sunday and was on a trip for 3 days, so I couldn’t update the blog. 😦 But don’t worry! This weekend, there will definitely be a Weekend Update, so please look forward to it! 🙂
But now, we will take a look at my March 2018 budget! And I have to be honest with everybody, March was a bad month and I was not entirely happy about where my money went concerning expenses. Things will be better in April though! I can feel it! 🙂
Let’s take a gander at how I did!
For rent and all of the household expenses like electricity, water, etc. You know, all of that stuff. 😛
Haha! Nothing in this category this month! Although with me skipping a haircut last month, I definitely will be getting one in April. 🙂
Had to buy medication this month. Keeps me from acting weird from my mental illnesses. With me taking my medications, you wouldn’t even know I had any mental illnesses at all! They work that well and I am so greatful! 🙂
A little low in this category this month as you will see why in a second. But I was happy mostly everything was eaten! Except a lone sweet potato I will probably gobble up tonight. 🙂
Misc Items: 116.82
Yeeeees, this is the category that screwed me up the most. A lot of stuff I bought from Goodwill turned out to be STUPID for one reason or another, so yeah, I’m not entirely happy with my spending on about a quarter of the stuff in this category in March. Uggh, I’m owning up to it guys, I did screw up. Most of the stuff I buy at thrift stores I do intend to use, but sometimes, the things I buy tend to be duds when I finally get them home.
However, I have a plan for April that I will be doing to curb my spending that I will explain after my expenses have been gone through. More on that in a bit. 🙂
Household Expenses: $61.16
For needed clothes, for household supplies, and for needed stuff that makes life a little easier. I am happy to report that among this category is a red designer Kenneth Cole Reaction pea coat I bought at a thrift store for 2.50 though! $2.50 ya’ll! 😀 Man, what a score! However, I did kind of screw up when sewing two buttons on the coat tighter to it and sewed through the pockets to stitch the buttons. Oops… Will have to fix that later on so the pockets can be usable again. 🙂 Small fix, but it takes a little time to sew, so I have to be totally prepared to do that kind of small job, haha. 🙂
Yes! Under budget in this category! Not too shabby. Let’s keep that momentum going into April! 😀
Eating Out: $40.15
Uggh, yes I am over 10 bucks in this category. Would love to keep things under 30 dollars in this particular category, but I’m not sweating it too badly. 10 bucks I can deal with, but at least I was not over 20 bucks. Phew! Like I said though, I have a plan to cut spending in April! More on that in a second…
Budgeted Items: $40.70
This category is where my Envelope System comes in and what I spend all of it on concerning hard and edible goods. 🙂 Everything looks pretty good in this category! I’m pretty happy with it. 🙂
And the grand total is…
Final Total: $870.50
Yeah, not too happy with how things went this month. But I got a plan guys that I have started doing this month! I’m going on a spending fast! Only buying stuff I need. Curbing the wants and that means staying out of thrift stores unless I really need something in them. In other words, sticking to a list when going to them. So far, things have been going fairly well. When I was out of town with LOCMom, we went to visit LOCAunt and LOCUncle. We did go to many thrift stores while we were there and I did buy a few things including one 8 dollar dud item, but the rest of stuff was pretty much used in the long run. Pretty proud of that fact. 🙂
So yeah, now that the thrifting bug has been squashed, I will probably not go out too much this month to any more thrift stores. Still mad about last month. I’m hoping I will do well with this spending freeze, so wish me well everyone! 😀
How was your March?
