What did I do this Weekend? (August 25-26, 2018)

Hey everybody! Sorry for the lack of blog posts during the week. πŸ˜₯ Honestly I didn’t feel like writing any because I felt so out of it. 😦 I also forgot to save my receipts again, so no spending summary for Saturday or Sunday. 😦 Yes, I am not a very good blogger, but man do I try to keep things active around here when I can to the best of my ability… > _<;;; Anyway, come and see what I did this weekend! πŸ˜€

On Saturday, I went to Folsom’s local library to pick up some manga books that I have been wanting to read! I find it even hard to believe now I don’t have to buy my manga anymore except for a few exceptions… O _O Hooray for AWESOME public libraries!

After the library, LOCAunt and LOCCousinR and LOCCousinJ came over to see our new apartment! LOCCousinR really liked our new pad and LOCCousinJ, who is going to be 2 years old soon, enjoyed playing with my younger brother’s old childhood Playmobile toys and plastic vehicles. LOCCousinJ also got to meet my realistic stuffed tiger, Kittybear which he thought was a real tiger! Kittybear, the 100% polyester stuffed tiger, tends to scare everyone when they first see her look at them, haha. πŸ˜› LOCAunt tried to convince LOCCousinJ that Kittybear wasn’t real by lightly batting her around and picking Kittybear up and flipping her all around on the carpet, but to no avail. πŸ™‚ We eventually had to hide Kittybear in the hallway so LOCCousinJ could play with the toys again.

Between playing, we also had chocolate cake and mixed berry pie! Man, does Safeway $5 Friday food from their bakery taste goooooood. πŸ˜€ Before LOCCousinR had to leave with LOCAunt and LOCCousinJ, LOCCousinJ went into the hallway to say goodbye to Kittybear the tiger and hugged her. ^ _^ Hopefully if LOCCousinJ comes over next time, he won’t be as scared of her anymore, haha. πŸ™‚

After visiting with my family, I basically relaxed all day. πŸ™‚

On Sunday, LOCMom and I went to a Mexican food restaurant with LOCMom’s friends in Folsom! I had two enchiladas with refried beans and rice. But maaaaaan, compared to my enchiladas I make (not my recipe of course, recipe here, MAKE THEM. YOU WILL NOT REGERT IT! πŸ˜€ ) they didn’t even come close in yumminess! The beans and the rice were delicious though, but I’m not sure if I would come back and eat at that restaurant since the main meal was just alright. 😦 I also got to meet one of LOCMom’s friend’s Scotty dog who sat with us as we dined out outside! Boy was he ever cute and he was so well behaved when I walked him! πŸ™‚

After our late lunch, LOCMom and I went home and relaxed! πŸ˜€ We didn’t do too much today, but lunch was pretty filling! πŸ™‚

$5 Friday Safeway Deals

I’m going to be adding a new section to my Weekend Updates since I look forward to this every week! At a local grocery store called Safeway, they have deals on some foods and other grocery products where everything is 5 bucks every Friday! I just started going to their sales after all of this time (D’OH! Dx ) and I am always buying a few things there that are 5 dollars when I go! πŸ™‚

Here is my haul for this week!

Cheap sushi rolls at Safeway get knocked down to about 5 bucks every Friday, so depending if I am hungry or not, I will pick up a package of them! This sushi is not high end or expensive in any way, but maaaaan, does it ever taste good! πŸ˜€ Paired with my own soy sauce and you got a little meal going on right here!

Those are chicken sushi rolls if anyone is wondering. πŸ™‚ I could have gotten the fattier sushi roll with the deep fried crumbles on them, but for 5 bucks, I got more sushi rolls in this package of sushi than the other sushi package with the deep fried crumbles on them. In other words… More sushi rolls to eat! πŸ˜€

And last but not least, I picked up a chocolate cake that was, by the way, incredibly moist and delicious tasting! I remember being so full after my sushi lunch that I could not eat dessert, so I stuck with my original plan and cut the chocolate cake into individual slices to freeze so I can munch on them later on individually whenever I am craving something sweet! πŸ™‚

sw cake

So this weekend was pretty fun! Can’t wait to see what next week and next weekend hold! πŸ˜€

How was your weekend?

Huh… I wonder what else the kids are killing these days?

Hey everybody! Things have been busy around here, but I managed to get another post up, haha. πŸ˜€

This blog post is going to talk about what Generation Z (kids born between 1995-2010, imo, but it varies between sources) and what industries they have decided to deem “dying”. πŸ˜› And as a millennial, I will chime in with what I think about these kids’ decisions to kill these industries off! My last posts about Generation Z “killing” stuff can be viewed here Β (Part 1) and here (Part 2) if anyone is interested in taking a gander at them. πŸ™‚

Let’s get started!

So we are going to be discussing the industries in this Bloomberg article. And if you can’t read the article because you used up all of your free news stories on Bloomberg, I will just be listing the categories it talks about Gen Z is killing below. πŸ™‚

Ahhh, yes malls. A building full of consumerism! And… the kids seem to hate them these days. According to the article, with all of the kids’ shopping online and not bothering to ask sale associates for help when trying to find things, they seem to like doing things themselves. Independence, I say!

Well, in my opinion, I will not be missing malls. The new town that I live in does not have a mall and honestly, all malls are good for these days are for walking in for exercise because air conditioning and heating. πŸ˜› Many a mall are already dying, dead, or are going to die in the near future anyway because numerous stores are declaring bankruptcy. With Mattress Firm being the latest one.Β Malls happen to be dying because of one or two reasons, or maybe even both:

  1. People are going online to shopping websites like Amazon to get the stuff they want now.
  2. Because of stagnant wages in the United States’ economy, people are shopping less thus making these stores going under and the companies being effected having no choice but to close more of their stores to stay profitable.

Could be either, could be both. : |

Anyway… Malls? Won’t be missing them if all people ever do is spend money at department stores in them. Gen Z has got the right idea!

Print Magazines

YES. Good job Gen Z! These need to go. πŸ™‚

The only thing magazines are good for are for reading in a doctor’s office which is not exactly good reading material in the first place, imo. : / And do ya’ll know why I hate magazines so much and think they suck? Well, what I hate about magazines, cable TV, movie theaters and anything that has instances where the main content of something I am consuming is interrupted by… wait for it… COMMERCIALS. COMMERCIALS! Why would I want to read something that every other page has an ad for a product I don’t care about? I mean, when I went to my new doctor this week dealing with one of my mental disorders, instead of picking up a magazine, I picked up one of the doctor’s neurology books and read that instead. Far my interesting than reading fluff articles in a magazine and you also learn something to boot!

Now I don’t know how Generation Z feels about reading nonfiction books in a doctor’s office, but I do know they probably won’t be picking up magazines to read. Honestly, I think they would probably be glued to their phones the whole time doing whatever on the internet or in a gaming app. Cause everyone, I have seen Generation Z in action with their technology. And no offence to Generation Z, but it seems like they are ADDICTED to their screens or maybe even the video games they play. But alas, I must admit I cannot talk and I was also the same way as a teenager. I played Runescape, read manga til’ 5:00AM in the morning, stayed up chatting with strangers on some animal website, and even played a pixel dolly RPG on a website I still go on to this day, minus the RPG playing. The other stuff besides the manga reading I have left behind in my past. I find video games to not be a valuable use of time if you just play them all day for fictional rewards and dopamine hits in place of what one could be doing irl instead. For me, like spending time on the internet reading things I find interesting. I must admit that is probably not any better use of time compared to Gen Z playing video games all day and night, but at least I have the ability to get up from the internet and walk away anytime I want and not until I finish level 5 in a video game or having to go ‘AFK’ for a bit and then come back and complete level 5 because you have to in order to save the game, haha. πŸ˜›

Well anyway, MAGAZINES. Yes, I am happy Generation Z is going to be killing this industry off for good. Doctors’ offices would be better off stuffing their waiting rooms with books instead, fictional or nonfictional. No commercials in those! πŸ˜€

AKA Braindamage ball. > _<;;; For my readers not in the United States, I am talking about the game with the brown almond shaped ball, not the Football where we Americans refer to as ‘Soccer’. American Football is not even a healthy game to play from what I have read about it. It’s actually quite dangerous for one’s brain! Although, I am not sure what kind of damage soccer players are doing to their brains whenever they headbutt a soccer ball off their foreheads either from a soccer ball going down quickly atΒ a player in the air…

But anyway, AMERICAN FOOTBALL. Apparently Gen Z does not like watching this game. And what a coincidence! Neither do I! Folks, I have honestly tried to get into football. I really did. Every time I tried to be “totally into it”, the moment where I watched any game just fades from memory. The only times I tried to get into football though is when Super Bowl game #78983268 came on TV and guys, I reeaaaally tried to have fun watching it, but looking back, the whole thing was lost on me. It would probably help if I read the rules, but I didn’t. Trying to be “cool” by forcing yourself to watch football and is not worth it if you are not into it in the first place so I have learned. So I am over it. C: Whenever the Super Bowl comes on each year, I specifically watch the Super Bowl for the half time show only. Forget the football, forget the commercials. The half time show is where it’s at! Hmm… I wonder how the kids these days feel about half time shows at Super Bowl games? If you are a Generation Z reader, let me know in the comments! πŸ˜€Β

So I will not mind football dying out. Any game that damages players brains in the long run is NEVER a good sport to play for a living. And because I don’t watch cable TV either, I never even get to see football games anymore anyway. πŸ˜› If the NFL (National Football League) were smart, they would launch a subscription service app where people could pay a one-time fee where they could watch all of the football games they want live for one season including the Super Bowl and CASH OUT man. It would definitely be a seasonal app only, but man, would they rank in the dough if they were to do this. But alas, if they required a cable subscription to access the content on the app, their efforts would be fruitless. Wishing an app would come out like this for the Olympics as well because LISTEN NBC, THIS MILLENNIAL WOULD PAY UP. But will NBC and the NFL do this for their sports’ content? Probably not. : | I mean, that would be the smart thing to do because of ever decreasing ratings for each sports category and with both entities clinging to their cable TV content, I’m not convinced they will be doing this anytime soon sadly which a real damn shame.

So Generation Z doesn’t like paying with paper money which I understand completely. These days, I just whip out my debit card for all of my purchases. Easy. And checks? Forget about it. But alas! According to the article, Gen Z hates paying with cards as well! It’s all about the smartphone baby. And I have been thinking about doing the whole smartphone thing just to try it. I think I may love it, but I just have to get things set up first. πŸ™‚

As a person who HAAAAATES seeing my bank account balance get lower, I try to not do any cash back options in a grocery store as much as possible. Being on SSI, the frugal and penny pinching gene in me is strong and I always hate seeing my bank account balance get lower and lower. 😦 I think anyone does to be honest, haha. So using paper cash to pay for stuff is really off my radar unless I have to. I just find a debit card more convenient is all. πŸ™‚

So Generation Z, I tip my imaginary hat on my head to all of you! You kids seem to know what’s up and I can’t wait to see you guys grow up! I really hope all of you really stick it to those useless industries that are dying because they are not staying relevent on purpose and I hope the world will get better for all of you by the time you start adultin’! The kids will be alright!

Do you agree with the industries Generation Z is killing? Do you feel theΒ sameΒ way about them as Gen Z?

WOW! What a Move! (I’m back, everybody!)

HEEEEEY! I’m back! πŸ˜€

The move to our new town was a success! With a lot of unpacking and getting things ready, LOCMom and I are mostly comfortable now in our new home! Come and see how the move went and how I am liking our new town so far!

Setting up our new apartment and getting to know Folsom, CA

So, LOCMom and I are currently living in an apartment now instead of a home. So far, I love it! The apartments are located by Folsom Lake and where our apartment is located, it is near the bike trail that goes through Folsom all the way to Sacramento! If you look outside my room’s window, you will sometimes see butterflies, birds, and cyclists. πŸ™‚

In the two weeks I have been gone, I have been constantly setting up the apartment and mostly everything is in order now! I worked like a madperson just to get everything set up in my room, in the house, and I have even donated a few items I would not be needing anymore in the near future. Our apartment is smaller than our last condo, so some serious downsizing needed to be done! > _<;;; Which I did earlier in the two weeks of my disappearance! πŸ™‚ Feeling lighter!

I have also been on a supply buying binge for our new apartment because some things need to be changed in a new environment. So this month’s expenses are going to be off-the-wall crazy. Just warning you guys now. πŸ˜‰ But so far, mostly everything is looking good! I also just recently got new wooden slats for the bottom of my bed courtesy of LOCMom (thank you, LOCMom! πŸ˜€ ), but alas my measurements were off by a half an inch or so. πŸ˜₯ Have to go back to Lowes and get the wood cut again. This time, everything will be perfect! Which will be nice because right now my bed is being held up by LOCMom’s jelly making pot…

LOCMom and I are also getting to know Folsom! So far, I love it here! The town is really clean, but there are a lot more people here than there were in my last town. So far, I have went to many a discount store and each one had its own pros and cons. I also went to the local Target and their shopping carts were NINJA SILENT. Like, I was there for the first time one evening pushing the cart throughout the store and I thought there was something was wrong with the store since it was so quiet in there… Loved it! Also, the local bank we use has NEVER been crowded whenever we go there! ANOTHER POSITIVE! Also, their Frugalpants Grocery Store, or Winco, is also not as crowded as the Winco back in my old town. Winco in my old town was always crawling with people and the lines were so long and crazy… Thanking the LAWD that I am not there anymore!

But alas, the Goodwill in Folsom is not as good as my old town’s Goodwill. My old town’s Goodwill used to be like Folsom’s, but there must have been a change in management or something and it became excellent! The one in Folsom however… is not so good. 😦 But after going there once, I did find a few treasures! It’s one of those kind of Goodwills/thrift stores where you have to dig through all of the junk to find the good stuff! I don’t really mind doing that, but I am also a fan of clean thrift stores as well. πŸ˜‰

$5 Fridays at Safeway (AKA the new “Spendypants Grocery Store”)

So the new Spendypants Grocery Store in my neck of the woods is not Holiday anymore, but a grocery chain known as Safeway. And I cannot believe I am discovering and taking advantage of this now, but I have recently rediscovered a special day of theirs called ‘$5 Fridays’. Every Friday, Safeway has specials that are only on Friday that certain things and foods are only 5 bucks each! Last Friday, it was $5 dollar sushi day with a free big bottle of water with each sushi purchase and $5 bouquet of flowers. πŸ™‚

Recent meal and flowers bought at Safeway for under 20 bucks!

And if anyone asks, yes, I did eat all of that sushi. πŸ˜› Of course, not in one sitting, but throughout the day. Felt like a pig afterward, but hey, tomorrow is always new day food choices wise!

Visiting with LOCAunt and LOCUncle More

Being in Folsom, CA now, we are now closer to LOCAunt and LOCUncle and their kids who are my cousins! It will be fun getting to spend more time with them! I’m looking forward to it! πŸ˜€

LOCAunt has come over a few times now to visit with LOCMom and it is always nice to see her! LOCUncle also stopped by once and he and I got to play Mancala with my Mancala lizard-shaped board! LOCUncle liked the game a lot and was trying to figure out strategies to win the game while playing. πŸ™‚ Out of three games we played the final score was 3-1. Hoping to play Mancala with LOCUncle again soon!

Do I miss my old town?

My old town in California was Redding, CA. You know, where that huge fire is? πŸ˜₯ Basically, the fire just scorched the outside of Redding while we were there during our last few days of living there and half of the stores in Redding were closed. Things were CRAZY there. 😦

But do I mis Redding, CA? To be honest, no. When living there, I really hated the area. With me having far more progressive beliefs than most of the population which leans mostly conservative, I really will not miss the political climate there. It was very lonely being up there and since moving to Folsom, I have felt so much better. Also, since I now live in an area where it is not so isolated from different towns, I feel more of a connection to the entire area in general. πŸ™‚

But you know, the only things in Redding I will miss will be my cousins, some friends I just recently made, and my volunteer job at the Redding Veteran’s Home. My friends I just made were actual Buddhists and I will always remember them. πŸ™‚ And my job at the Redding Veteran’s Home was the best volunteer job I have ever held and all of the staff there including the home’s residents who are veterans themselves were all so wonderful! I will miss them all a lot and plan on visiting them if I am ever back in the area. πŸ˜€ And I will also miss spending time with my cousins and our family friend, LOCFriendT. I plan on keeping in touch with all of them so we will not lose contact with each other though! πŸ˜€

Cheers to a New Adventure!

So cheers to our new town of Folsom, CA and all of the awesome experiences we will be having here! I can tell already things are going to be a whole lot different in a good way and I am going to have a blast here in my new home! Hooray for a new adventure in Sacramento County! ^ o^

Have a beautiful day, everyone! Looking forward to finally being back! C:
