Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day, everybody! ^ o^
Maaaaaaan, what a weekend! This weekend was very active and I had a lot of fun! I will be including Goodwill haul from today as well, so stick around until the end for that! 😀
But I do have an announcement I need to make. There will not be any Monthly Budget Check Up posts for last month or this month due to real life issues. Sorry everyone, things have been crazy in my life at the moment and you could say it is even ridiculous, so no Monthly Budget Check-Up Posts for last month or in October for those reasons. No mini spending logs either for the Weekend Update posts as well for October too, unfortunately. 😦 I am hoping things will go back to normal next month though. Fingers crossed!
Also, as you have may have noticed, I have been switching my blog’s domain name back and forth and have finally got a .com domain name that doesn’t have the word ‘blog’ in it! Incredibly happy about that! 😀 So I can say in short, that my new blog’s domain name, ‘http://www.livingoncents.com‘ will probably be permanent. I don’t plan on changing it again anytime soon and I’m pretty happy about it! 😀 Sorry for any trouble it caused for any of you guys that have my blog bookmarked for future reading. 😦
Back to the Weekend Update! Come and see what I did this weekend! ^ o^
So when I got up first thing Saturday morning, LOCMom reported that the power was out! Again. – _- I don’t know what it is about the area we live in in Folsom that makes the power go out all of the time, but it is dang weird. But after one call to the power company by LOCMom, the power was turned back on! Woot woot!
And since it was the first weekend in October, the local Spendypants thrift store, Snowline, was having their monthly 50% off sale! You betcha’ I went to that sale and bought some stuff! But while waiting in line, I met a woman who was a kindred spirit! She was very nice and we had a wonderful chat with each other while waiting in line. 🙂 She told me she loved finding treasures at thrift stores and owned a baby grand piano from Europe! She also played the piano as well, so I bet that baby grand gets a lot of use, haha. 😀
I couldn’t help but notice from talking to her that she may have been… a person on FIRE (Financially Independent/Retired Early). O _O She even mentioned she used some of her savings for a medical treatment of hers and when I said my goodbyes to her and I went out to the car, I saw her loading her car up and it was a hatchback Subaru. A lady who owns a baby grand piano from Europe driving a hatchback Subaru that DIDN’t look like the latest model of that vehicle. Yup, that screams a person on FIRE if you ask me! 😀 Or maybe even a secret millionaire! O _O Well, whatever the circumstance was, one could tell she was probably a pretty wise person with her cash. 🙂 A kindred spirit indeed! I just feel bad that if she went back to look at the CDs and how she expressed that she liked the classical music CDs in my basket that she wasn’t going to find very many of them in the CD section because… I’m afraid I bought almost al of them. O _O;;; Forgot to mention that to her if she went to look for other classical music CDs, but I hope she found some good CDs anyway! 😀 More on my recently bought CDs later! ^ _^
Then after Snowline, LOCMom and I went to visit LOCGrandpa! LOCAunt was there having lunch with him and LOCmom and I visited with him for a while. 🙂 I even put on some music from when he was young that he always enjoyed listening to. ^ _^ After visiting with LOCGrandpa, LOCAunt and LOCMom and I all went to St. Vincent’s thrift store in Sacramento and shopped a little bit there! Unfortunately, LOCAunt had to leave early, but I managed to find a new red fuzzy peacoat, a CD case carrier, and a shirt for the winter time! Gotta’ to get ready for winter, so shopping thrift stores for winter clothes is always a good thing! 😀
After getting home, that evening up until late at night, I threw myself a CD scanning party! 😀 All of those CDs I bought for 64 cents a pop at Snowline I ripped to my iPhone and now the songs on them can be enjoyed in a digital format! 😀 I’m gonna’ become one of those Luddites though because I plan on keeping my CDs that I bought so if I have to rip them to another device that is outside of iTunes someday, I will still have them on me thus not trapping all of my music on iTunes entirely! That is, if CDs are not obsolete by then. If that time comes (and it probably will in the near future), then I will chuck out all of them. 🙂 Preferably recycle them at Best Buy. ^ _^
RIP CD cases! *insert laugh/cry emoji here* I will be using my new CD carrying case I bought at St. Vincents to store all of my CDs for the time being. 🙂
On Sunday, we met LOCAunt at our local Costco and had lunch there! For my lunch, I had a few bites of a Churro… For the FIRST TIME EVER! O _O Oh my god… Why haven’t I have eaten this delicious pencil-like donut all of my life? T _T I will definitely be getting another Churro someday in the future! 😀
And alas, our garage and car were absolutely dirty, so I took that Sunday afternoon to get everything cleaned up! While cleaning the garage, I rescued perfectly good household supplies out of one of our apartment’s dumpsters that I will be donating to a local thrift store! PERFECTLY GOOD STUFF… IN THE TRASH. > _< Ya’ll wouldn’t believe what people throw out around here. Dx
I also gave our new downstairs LOCNeighbors’ child a soccer ball I bought last month at Safeway for $3.50. I had bought four soccer balls from Safeway for $3.50 a pop for the poorer kids in our area around the holidays, but I decided to part with one. 🙂 Their child seemed to appreciate the soccer ball since they do play soccer. 😀
And that was pretty much it for my Sunday! No $5 Friday haul because we didn’t need anything at Safeway this Friday and I am happy with amount of sweets I have in the freezer already. 🙂
YA’LL READY FOR THIS?! 8D Check out my Goodwill haul I got from Goodwill’s 50% off sale today!
Minus the blue Trader Joe’s freezer bag, all of this was $50! 😀 I must admit, some of these items was indeed a bunch of “wants”, but I’m always happy to buy things that make me happy and give me joy at an outrageous discount. ^ _^ But there were some things I did need in this pile of stuff. 😀
The paper cutter I plan on making a blog post for for a party game that I will be making in the future! The paper cutter will help me cut straight lines for the party game cards I am going to make. 😀 And then on top of the paper cutter is a Brita filter! Y’know, just sitting there on the Goodwill shelf for a dollar. Snatched that thing up REAL QUICK and I’m hoping it is not too old that it is not usable anymore. 😦 Crossing my fingers! The scarfs and the pea coats I do collect and for each scarf under 3 bucks and the Anne Klein pea coat I bought today for only $6.50, that’s a steal! 🙂 The CDs I bought were mostly Christmas music and for 1.50 a pop for 12-24 songs on each CD vs. one song in the iTunes store for $1.29 each, another steal! 😀
As for the rest of the stuff, I will either be using, wearing for the winter time, or reading it. 🙂 Now as for that flower towel… Here I thought it was a dish rag, but after closely examining it further, LOCMom informed me it is a towel for wiping golf clubs down! O _o Opps… Well… From what I can tell you, I grabbed this towel for 50 cents because it was from a Hawaiian resort and it was made in Belgium… FANCY! =O That was the main reason why I grabbed it. A fancy dish towel that looked brand new, from a Hawaiian resort, AND was Made in Belgium? Sign me up! 😀 Don’t know what I will do with it now, but LOCMom says she wants it. We’ll do something with it, I guess. 🙂
There was also a polyester throw blanket I bought for $1.50 that is not in the picture that I was going to use for my computer chair in my room (the seat is getting dirty), but LOCMom loved it and wanted it instead to use for it’s intended purpose though. Happy it got a good home anyway! 😀
So yes, a very wonderful weekend! Can’t wait for the next! ^ o^
How was your weekend?
