Hey everybody! Here is what I have been up to!

Hi, everybody! I am very sorry for things being so quiet around here! I am still alive! > _<; I have just been feeling bad again and it just affects me emotionally, but I have not forgotten about the blog for even a second!

Today’s post will be a catch-up post! Come and see what I have been up to! ๐Ÿ˜€

Mailing Packages

So I mailed out a few packages this month! I mailed out 3 packages to a friend and to an avatar website company that accepts fanmail! The packages were basically early Valentine’s Day presents since I find the good quality candy I bought this month for early Valentine’s Day presents sells out quickly in February… O _O;;;

And before anyone asks, what I meant by good quality candy was that I bought See’s Candy and Russel Stovers candy. ^ _^ The See’s Candy was $11 in total and the Russel Stover king sized chocolate heart I purchased was $1.00 at Dollar Tree. Score! Shipping all of the candy though put my total up to around $20.00, but that is okay. ^ _^ This just means I won’t have to ship candy out next month!

I will be sending Valentine’s Day cards out in February though and I just have to worry about buying Valentine’s Day themed stamps during that time though, but I have some great ones in mind! I always like to send out Valentine’s Day cards for Valentine’s Day because I hate to see people get left out during that holiday… T _T

Ripping CDs

YAAAAAASS. So, I bought a bunch of CDs from Goodwill to rip to my iPhone. It’s all music I pretty much love to listen to and for each CD being around 2 bucks a pop for about 10-12 songs on each CD, I say that is a screamin’ deal! Better than paying $1.29 for each song on iTunes… > ___> I’m also keeping my CDs I bought around in a CD binder I also got from Goodwill because I want to keep them around just in case I ever have to rip all of them again… Like, if I ever got an Android phone or something like that and couldn’t use iTunes on it. That probably won’t happen in the near future, but you never know!

But I will definitely be keeping my old CDs around until CDs are phased out completely. I’m not sure when that will be, but it is a well-known fact that hardly anyone is buying them anymore though. Dx;;;

Something Creepy on my Bathroom Mirror

So after a trip to Goodwill two days ago, last night, pardon my French, something CREEPY AS SHAT appeared on my bathroom mirror! What appeared on my bathroom mirror were two hands at the center top side of the mirror.

Now everyone, I have not touched the mirror in that spot recently nor has LOCMom. And when I saw two handprints left on the bathroom mirror like that, I immediately freaked.

I could do a whole blog post about this, but in my lifetime as a thrifter, there have been times where I have brought home possessed objects from a thrift store. It all starts out the same: I buy the items from the thrift store, get a certain item I bought home, and on or after the day of I acquire the item, WEIRD SHIT starts happening around the house. Or atleastย only to me. You could say you can chalk my thinking weird things are happening to me because of my mental illness, but I somehow know the difference when it comes to the fake things I see and real things I see. Medication helps a lot for me to distinguish the difference as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

And the weird crap that happened to happen around my apartment just happened to be creepy handprints on the mirror. Now after freaking out, I went over my Goodwill receipt to see if anything I bought would send up any red flags and it turns out one item put up a red flag for me: a piece of jewelry. I thought it was so cute in the thrift store and wanted to bring it home to wear, but according to this webpage (my go-to webpage concerning haunted objects), jewelry is in the top bracket for being haunted.ย It even gives me the creeps just talking about it because this whole experience is still pretty raw for me. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

So I did what I do to all possessed objects I acquire from the a thrift store: I throw them in the garbage where they go to the dump where they will be buried in the ground never to haunt anyone ever again. This strategy works out well for me most of the time thank god. I sometimes think of thrift stores as hay stacks. Most of the time items in thrift stores are just “hay”, but then you find a “needle” very rarely and when you bring that needle home with you, then ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE in your house. It’s awful. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

So the moral of the story guys… If you think you have an item in your home that is possessed by a ghost/spirit, when in doubt, don’t ever donate it, THROW IT OUT. You don’t want that haunted object to haunt someone else’s home who acquires it from a thrift store, do you? I know I wouldn’t… xC

What I did today

So after my traumatic Saturday night, I ended up staying up until 6:00AM due to stress, but I eventually went to sleep and got up in the middle of the afternoon. But I went out and got some errands done!

LOCMom and I went to Raleys, or the Richpants Grocery Store, and LOCMom bought me some Walkers butter cookies! Guys… I love these cookies so much! They only have four ingredients in them and they are basically REAL FOOD which is a win in my book!

After the Richpants Grocery Store, I went to our local Asian market, 99 Ranch Market, to buy some of my Teriyaki sauce. Other than Sprouts and this particular Asian Market, I can never find it anywhere else in town. Boooooooo… T ___T But after going to Asian Grocery Store today, I thought to myself I should learn a few words and phrases in Mandarin because boy was it crowded in there today! O _O The staff and many of the people who shop there are Chinese and do not speak English, so when I go there next time, I should learn a little Mandarin to help me get around better and speak to others if I need to go around them and prepare for such situations like that. I even practiced a little bit of Mandarin tonight with some common words and phrases that will help me out so I will be totally prepared next time! ๐Ÿ˜€

Chinese New Year is coming up in a couple of weeks, so that may have been why the store was so crowded… ^ _^;

I also went to Dollar Tree next to the Asian Grocery Store and bought some GooGone in there! I really love Googone because it helps get sticky residue off of items that you can’t really get off with a sponge… > _<;;;

After going to Dollar, I went home and relaxed! ^ _^

So that is pretty much what I have been up to and did today! Not much goes on with me these days besides shopping and what-not. ^ _^;

Hoping everyone has been well and thank you for being patient with me!

What has everyone been up to? ๐Ÿ™‚

We have a narcissist in the White House that doesn’t care if people on SNAP starve in February

Hey, everybody! I have wonderful news! I am feeling much better and I hope I will continue to feel better! It’s been hard for me for a while now, but I’m hoping this burst of energy I am feeling currently will last indefinitely! ๐Ÿ˜€

But anyway. Yeah, this blog post’s title. I will probably lose readers from the title for being the way it is, but I have grave news if I have any readers on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) having to do with said title.

I am from the United States and I am sure everyone here is aware that the government is currently shutdown and has been since Christmas. It is affecting mostly everyone who works for the government. People who check bags at our airports, people who take care of our National Parks, Secret Service members that protect our country’s leaders and politicians, and whatever other federal workers do to keep our country going are ALL being affected by this government shutdown. And worst of all is that they are not getting paid even if they are forced to work to keep our country going.

Now onto the SNAP issue. It seems it has been reported today by the Huffington Post that SNAP will not have enough money to fund its recipients who use this program in February if the shutdown continues. According to the article, more than 38 million people in the United States receive food stamps to feed their families each month or to just feed themselves if they are single. Now imagine if these 38+ million people will not be able to feed themselves in February. What will they do and how will they survive? This is FREAKIN’ SERIOUS. I do believe many people on SSI are on SNAP as well, so how will they feed themselves when the funding for SNAP dries up in February? One can only do so much with $900 and below coming in from a monthly SSI benefit payment and that is after paying the bills.

Imagine having to live with $350 a month or lower from a under $1000-ish SSI amount or maybe even $750-ish SSI amount each month after the rent/bills have been paid whatever that may be dealing with each of our unique different living situations. That is the reality of all of us living on SSI. Now imagine to use that money to buy your food for the month along with other things that go toward your disability and other misc. stuff as well for helping you live a little easier. Because of this, there’s not a lot of meat left on the bone when the end of the month rolls around. Now imagine that reality without SNAP. Things seem to become a little grave.

The good news for Social Security recipients such as myself is that we are not going to affected.ย ย This is good news. But it still doesn’t change the fact that this shutdown over something as STUPID and quite possibly over some freakin’ wall (that is most likely never going to be built) because our current president is RACIST against the people who live south of our border. And didn’t our narcississt-in-chief say that Mexico was going to pay for it in the first place and not American tax payers? I believe we have audio clip(s) of him saying so (go to 1:00 minute on the video in this link). But yes, we have a president who is named Donald J. Trump who suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Dealing with narcissists such as Donald Trump is impossible because they lack the ability to have empathy for anyone but themselves and being the unfeeling creatures, or swamp creature, such as Donald Trump and people like his ilk are, they do not care about the feelings of others around them and they are never sorry for any cruel acts that they do. They are beyond redemption and “saving” for they are people who do not wish for redemption and cannot or simply do not wish to ever be saved. If they wish for redemption or to even be “saved”, they must save their lives themselves. No sane or “normal” person will be able to help them with that task. That is the sad and honest truth for those that suffer from Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

So if our president does not care about the undocumented immigrants he puts in cages just trying to come to United States for a better life or even his numerous administration’s staff members that have left his administration because of the toxicity of working in a narcissistic workplace, do you think our president will even care about the millions upon millions of people starving starting in February because they cannot feed themselves or their families because they will not be recieving any more SNAP benefits? I highly doubt it. For swamp creatures/narcissists like Donald J. Trump only care about one thing and that is themselves.

But to everyone on SNAP that may not be able to feed themselves or their families in February: I am so very sorry. I am sorry we have an uncaring president that does not care about you or your families. Just know and remember that there are so many people that care about you including me that want you to live happy lives and to always be able to provide for yourselves and your families. Know that you are loved and are never forgotten. We think about you all of the time and we wish all of the best for you all throughout your lives. โคย

Now to conclude, this alarming headline abour millions of people losing their SNAP benefits in February just came out today and there has yet to be a response from Trump or anyone in his administration as of yet. I probably will not keep to close of an eye on this beyond this blog post because my blog is a Frugal/Personal Finance blog after all and not a political blog, but I just had to say something about this. These kinds of things just tick me off to no end and seeing as how I am in the low LOW income bracket and live that life every day, I believe if I don’t speak about this injustice against people knowing and living the life I live each day, then no one else will. That is just how I feel. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Until this the madness of this government shutdown is finally over, I wish everyone in my country all of the best and to please be kind to yourselves during these difficult times. Know that you are loved and are never forgotten.

Have a beautiful day everyone and take very good care. โค

What 5 Things I am Thankful for This Holiday Season/Christmas (2018 Edition)

Hi, everybody! I’m sorry agin for not posting lately! ๐Ÿ˜ฅ I’ve still been feeling bad, but I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and Christmas! ๐Ÿ˜€

Honestly, I have not been in the Christmas mood all month and even though this Xmas has come and gone, I’m hoping the New Year will bring more joyous times in my life for me.

But let’s get to the point of this post! 2018 has pretty much come and gone, and at the end of every year in December, I list what I am thankful for on my blog, Living on Cents. ๐Ÿ˜€ (Read last year’s blog post here!) I am very thankful for many things this year and I will let all of you guys know what they are! ๐Ÿ˜€

My New Twin Bed Mattress

I didn’t mention this before on my blog, but a few months ago, I got a new mattress! It is a twin size pillow top mattress and it is super comfy! Having like four mattress pads on it as well helps too with its comfiness, haha. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I fall asleep immediately on it every night and I never hurt at all when laying down on it. ๐Ÿ™‚ I also got a matching box spring and mattress protector sheet thrown in when the mattress was purchased, so that is always a plus! And no, my new mattress was not 39849847834893 dollars thank goodness. Dx I basically got an “economy model” mattress that was priced pretty reasonably and was so worth it. ๐Ÿ™‚

So this year, I am thankful for my new mattress! If I keep taking care of it properly, it should last me for many years to come! ^ _^

ABLE Accounts

I was going to make a special blog post about this, but I have just been feeling awful still lately. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ But GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! /ProfessorFarnsworthVoice ABLE accounts are now LAUNCHED AND LIVE in California! I haven’t started one yet, but by getting an ABLE Account, I will be able to save over $2000 while on SSI now! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! ^ o^ When I open up an ABLE Account finally, I will definitely be letting you guys know about my small financial milestones that I will achieve little by little with my ABLE Account. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m basically going to be using my new ABLE Account as an account to fund my retirement and my goal is to MAX IT OUT. HIT THE CAP BABE. STASH. CASH. B)

So yeah, I am super excited and I am hoping I will be able start stashing my cash into an ABLE account as soon as next month. I can’t wait! ๐Ÿ˜€

My Food/Drink Stockpile and Costco

So as a person who lives on SSI, always having enough food around the house for me is always a concern of mine. It always stings a little parting with my money every time I go to the Frugalpants Grocery Store even though it is a frugalpants store. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ But this year, I am thankful for stores like Costco where I can buy food and drinks I enjoy consuming in bulk and most of the time, saving money that way by buying things in bulk instead of paying the “poor tax” on just one food/drink item bought individually every time. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ By buying food/drink products and household goods in bulk, it may be that I have to part with a lot of money at one time for a bulk purchase, but in the end, I know what I am buying is a screamin’ deal that will benefit me and last me for the longest amount of time possible. I must admit this privilege of me being able to afford bulk items every month is because I live with LOCMom. If I was living by myself on SSI, things would be very different and more difficult for me, I’m afraid. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

But every night when I am in my bed, my bulk items are in my room staring back at me and I know in my heart that I am blessed. ^ _^ When I look at them, I feel I have so much and I am so very thankful for that. โค

My Clothing

I remember when I was in my earlier 20’s before the frugal lifestyle became a huge part of my life (I was frugal then as well, but was not as passionate about frugality as much as I am now… ๐Ÿ™‚ ), I sometimes bought pretty delicate shirts that you would always have to handwash because if you put them in a washing machine, the washing machine would just wreck them and ruin them without mercy. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Well, after a while, I guess I did get tired of having clothing that I always had to handwash all of the time and when I moved to Folsom, when I bought “brand new” new clothing after my weight loss, I bought t-shirts that fit me well and could be washed in a washing machine because I didn’t want to hand wash anything with such a small kitchen in my new apartment that I live in and I just… didn’t want to handwash anything. Dx

These days, I have a frugal/poverty mentality when it comes to my clothing. I always say to myself, “As long as my clothing clotheย me and keeps me warm/cool against nature’s elements, I will wear this simple clothing and I am and will be very thankful for it.” But also, my clothing (basically my shirts) has to not ever turn into pill city in the near future and has to be or be near 100% cotton or another 100% of some other fabric. Polyester clothing, unless it is a sweater or exercise leggings, always gets the gullotine treatment from my closet if I happen to buy a shirt that is made out of polyester and I didn’t check the tag for what the shirt was made out of first at the store. >:/ You just gotta’ checkย whatย your clothing is made out everybody, those clothing manufacturers are tricky!ย

I have recently shrank into a Size 12 pant size, but it has been hard for me to find Size 12 pants that work on my body since when you hit a Size 12 or lower (basically shrink out of the plus size range of clothing Size 14 and up… .), I have discovered pant sizing becomes batsh*t crazytown. It’s absolutely insane what each clothing manufacturer thinks is a “Size 12”. Some 12’s are really 10’s and some 12’s are even 8’s and 6’s! Sometimes some 12’s a rare size 4… I wish I were joking, but I am not. >: / Also since pants in stores this winter are all trending being a high rise cut right now, they don’t even work for my body type since I am so short in the waist area. : ( Even petite pants are sometimes even too long on me because my waist basically disappears when I sit down and the petite pants still act like long waisted pants on me. >: / It’s been like this ever since my childhood. Still drives me crazy to this day.

So for now, even though my Size 14 pants are baggy on me, I will be keeping them around and just wear a belt with them like I always do. ๐Ÿ™‚ Like I said, I am very grateful and feel blessed that I have warm clothing to clothe me to protect me from the weather, so I am happy with my clothing at the moment and in the long run. ^ _^

Dumpsters at my Apartment Complex

Sometimes God blesses people through other people or through events in their lives. What the average person might not think though is how stuff thrown away in a dumpster can bless people’s’ lives as well.

Everyone… Ever since moving to an apartment complex and living in an apartment, even today, I still can’t believe what people throw out. I mean… It’s incredible. It’s absolutely unbelievable. Basically, if anything is by a dumpster or in a dumpster at my apartment complex, it’s fair game in my opinion.ย

Basically so far this year I have found a large full size Made in USA ironing board, a rotating air purifying fan, a blood pressure pump reader that works perfectly, a Made in USA tool box, perfectly good tall lamps, a coffee maker and a Keurig machine, and much much more that I am still in disbelief that people just chuck into a dumpster or beside a dumpster to be taken to the dump to be buried in a giant hole in the ground to never be seen or be used again. These items usually still work if you plug them in even. It’s just awful everyone. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I unfortunately can’t take everything I find (had to let that Keurig go… ๐Ÿ˜ฅ ), but I do take what I can use in my life, in a dumpster or not. I even donate the stuff I find by or in the dumpsters to thrift stores because there is absolutely nothing wrong with it and other people can use the stuff I find. ๐Ÿ™‚

Like just today, I found some perfectly good work tools and a lot of them were Made in USA tools. Also found a blue plastic medium/large-ish garbage bin for our apartment’s garage. And the diamond in the rough I scored out of a dumpster by our apartment today was a plastic chair mat for my computer area. ^ o^ Check out how much one retails for at Costco and on Amazon and I didn’t pay a cent for mine I found in a dumpster. B) Sure, the one I found isn’t as bright and shiny like a new one, but it is one that was definitely well loved in its past and will be well loved again in its future in my life. โค

God providith things to others even through dumpsters sometimes and do I ever feel so blessed and grateful for the many useful things I sometimes find in them at my apartment complex. Even though I am agnostic, I like to think some sort of higher power is looking out for me sometimes. ๐Ÿ™‚

Conclusion

So there ya’ have it, everyone! The 5 things I am thankful for this holiday/Christmas season! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m hoping next year will be better than the last and will bring me much more joyous experiences in my life, so here’s hoping for a better year in 2019! *fingers crossed*

What are you thankful this holiday/Christmas season? ๐Ÿ˜€
