What I have been up to! (June 20, 2018)

Hello, everybody! I would like to say I am very sorry I have not had a new post for about a week or so. Things have been very crazy around here. So in today’s special post, I will be telling everyone what I have been up to instead! 😀

The Big Move

So in the past few weeks, LOCMom and I have been trying to get our house ready to sell. Well, I am happy to report that we have a buyer! That didn’t take long at all! 😀 So we have to be out of here by around the end of July. We will be moving to the southern part of Northern California where we will not be so isolated location wise. Plus, there will basically be more stuff to do for young people. THANK TEH LORDZ. The only young people that come to my current town we will soon be getting the heck out of is for the local cult of Bethel Church. I used to go to said cult before it took over our local convention center, so I know how crazy its members are.  😐

So yeah, I am very excited about our big move!

My Birthday!

So recently, I have just got done celebrating my birthday in June! On my birthday, LOCCousinJ got me a card and some beautiful flowers! LOCMom also got me some presents! The presents I got were a new red folding event chair and a schmancy laundry basket! I think I got one or two more things as well, but I can’t remember them. *shrug emoji* LOCMom also took me out to dinner where I had a healthy veggie filled omelet, some greasy fries, and a wonderful rich chocolate cake! YUMMY!

However, my OFFICIAL birthday party had to be planned in advance because my party guests are my cousins and a family friend and they are pretty busy a lot of the time. 🙂 My  birthday party will be later on tonight and it will also be LOCMom’s and my Goodbye Party before we leave our town! Hoping that everyone will have a lot of fun!

Visiting LOCAunt and LOCUncle

Last weekend, LOCMom and I went to visit LOCAunt and LOCUncle! I also got to see my other cousins as well which was pretty nice! 🙂 We had a lot of fun there and we also got to meet with LOCMom’s realtor to look at some houses! It was also Father’s Day weekend, so we also went to visit LOCGrandpa in his care home and had lunch with him!

Seeing how LOCMom and I are going to move to LOCAunt’s and LOCUncle’s area, I am pretty used to this area by now. 🙂 Still getting to know the place little by little, but soon I will be an expert, haha! 😀 I also met a new friend in LOCAunt’s and LOCUncle’s neighborhood we will be moving into! She has the cutest little black dog who was in need to be groomed. 😛 Her groming appointment was soon and summer time is coming, so that cute little doggy will feel better having shorter hair I bet. 🙂 In the neighborhood we plan on moving into, I will be able to live with LOCMom as a disabled child under the park rules. The neighborhood we will be moving into is a mobile home park that is really fancy! I have been getting to know some of the older people that live in the park and a lot of them are very nice! I will even get to feed the birds every day if I want to! Just can’t feed the Canadian Geese which is cool with me. 🙂 They are seen as pests and can get quite aggressive when they have babies in the springtime and while they are growing.

I am hoping that LOCMom and I will enjoy our soon-to-be new home a lot! 😀

Reading Cool Books

So, I have recently told everyone in one of my past Weekend Updates that a female Buddhist Monk hooked me up with a Buddha book about Buddha’s life! Well, I got through that book in about two days and I loved it! I recently bought another Buddha book that looked like it had an extended version of Buddha’s story, but it was a children’s book. After reading a chapter of it, it is definitely more like a religious story out of a holy book instead of a more human version of Buddha’s life like the first book I read. I still find it to be very fun and can’t wait to tackle it all! 😀 Next up after I learn about Buddha’s life is Mohammad’s life from Islam! I have been in a kick about reading about other religions’ prophets and so far it has been an absolute blast for me! ^ o^

I have also bought a few non-fiction books from Dollar Tree and they are very informative! I just got through reading a Western history book about many periods throughout Western history such as The Resonance and the Napoleonic Wars. Pretty cool stuff! 😀 Gotta’ tackle my science and Earth books now! It helps that these non-fiction books I bought at Dollar Tree can be understood by anybody who reads them including children, so they are great reading for anybody I think! 😀

I have also been reading manga books I got from my local library, but I am afraid I bit off more than I could chew with my second round of books… Couldn’t get through them all in the time period I had them since everything has been so crazy and stressful for me. 😦 But I hope to conquer the entire Naruto series while I am still in town! Tis’ a goal of mine. 🙂

Yup, so I have been doing a lot of stuff! Sorry for the silence I have been giving everyone. 😥 I don’t mean to, but if I have more than like two things on my mental plate that I have to do, I am easily stressed out. But I looked at my blog traffic report and I was expecting my readers to forget about my blog because I have been so quiet and I would just like to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for still believing in me! You guys have been coming to my blog a lot waiting for an update or if you are new readers to my blog, I humbly welcome you! 😀 I hope I can continue writing about things that you guys like reading and even though my life is not very exciting and I am not the most perfect blogger in the world, I would just like to say thank you. 🙂 ❤

Now that things have settled down with the house showing, I hope to be able to be a little more active on my blog now than I have been this past week or two. I’m going to try, haha. 🙂

What have you been up to? 🙂

Hmm… I wonder what industries the kids are “killing” these days? (Part 1)

Heya’ everybody! So I was thinking about the kids these days who are known as Generation Z. They were born between the years of 1995 – 2010. Alas, some people start the year bracket for this generation at 1996 or even 1997, but I think their generation starts at 1995. 🙂 Anyway, these kids are currently in middle school and high school and some are even starting college, but just like us millennials such as myself, they are killing industries as well! Or they plan to at least. 😛

So a few weeks back, I asked LOCNieceV if this Business Insider article about her generation killing these 8 industries is correct and true. And do you know what her reply was? YES, the article is pretty damn accurate! Couldn’t believe it. 🙂

So today, we will be discussing what Generation Z is killing and as a millennial, what I think about these young whipper snappers’ decisions to kill off these industries. I will go down half of the list featured in this Business Insider article in Part 1 of this blog series. 🙂

Preppy Clothing Brands

So the kids aren’t really into preppy designer brands Ralph Lauren and other “luxury” brands. But alas, according to the article, the well known preppy clothing company known as American Eagle Gen Z seems to be chill with in our next category! Good news for that brand because I kind of like that brand, haha. 🙂

I honestly think though that as soon as Gen Z gets spending power, they may start to be interested in some luxury items because they will have the cash to purchase it, but I am totally down with this generation taking out any “luxury” brands. Do we really need to spend $1000 for a tin can from Tiffany’s? I’m being serious. I’m not joking. They are actually asking $1000 for a freakin’ empty can. And the people who have actually bought this here can… I am afraid you have more money than sense. : |

Department Stores

Watch out JC Penney and Macy’s, you are not the definition of cool in Gen Z’s eyes. According to the article, since Gen Zers are still mostly in high school, they like stores that cater to them specifically like American Eagle and any other “cool” teen stores.

A little backstory on what I thought about these “teen” clothing stores growing up. When I was a teenager, I remember that my thighs were so big and my hips were wider than the average really thin teenage girl that I could not wear those cute little “booty shorts”. They looked cute on my very thin popular girl school mates, but whenever I tried to wear them as a teen, they would either not fit me because of my big hips + naturally big butt and since the short legs on the shorts were so short, I would have chub rub like no tomorrow. I just lacked the body and possible thigh gap some naturally skinnier girl classmates had when I was a teen and it made me feel awful about my body, but that is another story.

Also, when I was a teenager, I thought teenage shirts were just GOD AWFUL UGLY. Keep in mind when I went to high school in the mid 2000’s, so everything was awful fashion wise still. I find today’s fashion choices to be much better than when I was younger. So because I thought teenage shirts were awful looking, I always went to the adult ladies section to buy my shirts and I was never disappointed. Always found cute stuff. Just wish I knew about discount stores back then, but this is when the malls were basically America’s Amazon when Amazon and discount stores weren’t booming yet.

Back to the department stores Gen Z hates. I also found as a teen that Macy’s clothing in the teenage section did not fit me and that was mostly the pants and shorts. I eventually even wore the largest size at JC Penney and that didn’t help with my body image problems either. But like I said, that is another story. 🙂

And now we move forward to today. Like I said in the last section, once Gen Z gets spending power, these stores may see their teen merchandise fly off the shelves, but I’m not too sure. Whenever I am in my local Macy’s or JC Penney, I never see any Gen Z kids in the teenage sections. *shrug emoji* I honestly think that these kids don’t think that these stores are “cool” to shop in and they probably just think their “boring” adult parents like shopping for “boring” clothes in them. And as a millennial myself, it has been MONTHS since I have bought anything from our local Macy’s or JC Penney. And whenever I get a JC Penney coupon for $10 off of $10 or more, that is the only time I go into JC Penney. Macy’s… Almost never. :/

So unless Macy’s and JC Penney want to be the next Sears that is dying a painful death, they better make some major changes soon unless they want to be left behind.

Cable TV

Now THIS is what I would love to see with the last nail in its coffin. Apparently Gen Z is not a fan of Cable TV and neither are us millennials! What is really funny I found is that according to the article, Gen Zers think Cable TV is only great to fall asleep to. Now that is pretty lulzy. *laugh/cry emoji*

In all honesty, it’s only a matter of time until Cable TV dies off completely. With the baby boomers and other older generations practically the only ones holding onto cable packages, Cable TV’s days are pretty much numbered as those generations pass away. Very morbid I know, but that is what I predict what will probably happen to Cable TV’s customers eventually and then making Cable TV die off somewhere in between.

So I and other millennials will not miss you Cable TV and neither will Generation Z. Your time is very short and will run out in the near future. 😐

Anything Related to Paper

WILL PAPERBACK BOOKS BE GONE BY 2030? If Generation Z has their way, probably. Apparently Gen Z hates having paper copies of anything and likes everything to be digital. Me? I would not mind this. Currently in the past, I have bought YUUUUUGE binders from numerous thrift stores to keep all of my paper documents in. It would be very nice and convenient if they were all online in an account someplace instead where I wouldn’t have to keep them on me all of the time… I could just print them out if I wanted to. I could go digital anytime you could say, but the physical copies of my important documents I organized in my binders are fine for now and they work out great. 🙂 I really have no desire to put them on a hard drive in my computer or on an online account and lose those hard copies in case something happens to my computer or account.

HOWEVER, if the documents that were sent to me from Social Security let’s say and SSA gave me a digital copy of every letter I get sent onto my My Social Security account for me to access along with a physical copy, that would be absolutely fantastic! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE that! As long as documents sent to me are featured and saved on OFFICIAL websites like government websites like Social Security or other secured business websites, I can see how the paperless route could work in the long run.

But until then, I’m keeping my binders, haha. 🙂

Wrap Up

So that was Part 1 of this series! Come check out part two when I get it up! Probaly next week! 😀

Are you looking forward to the “deaths” of these industries Generation Z will be killing in the near future?

What did I do/buy this weekend? (June 2-3, 2018)

Hey everybody! This weekend was pretty darn fun! Come and see what I did! 😀

On Saturday, LOCMom and I went garage saling and at most of the garage sales, I did not find anything, but the first garage sale we went to was a winner! At that garage sale, I managed to buy a picture frame holder for a picture I saved from a trash can in high school in case we didn’t want to hang it on the wall anymore in our new home or for just another photo in general. *shrug emoji* But the real gem was a night stand I found and bought for 10 bucks!

Check it out!

Pardon my messiness, I am kind of in the middle of making my new night stand look prettier, haha. 🙂 The only flaw with it however was the knob for the top drawer was a little lose, so I got some tools and tried my best to get the knob screwed back in place. I… sort of got it back in place, but the knob still turns when you move it a certain way. But it’s way better than it was before now! Guess I’m just going to have to live with it. Imo, 10 bucks ain’t too bad for a pine dresser like this even with a sorta’ faulty knob. 😀

Then, being as it was Saturday, I went out during the evening and had my cheat meal! I was craving some Chipotle since I didn’t want to eat any food that was too greasy and possibly gain weight, so the food at Chipotle hit the spot!

Yes, I ate most of that. 🙂 But alas, I couldn’t finish it all off because it was A LOT of food! O _O;;; After eating as much as I could, I just tossed the leftovers.

After dinner, I relaxed all night basically and read more My Hero Academia! I really want to get caught up with the current manga chapter, but there is no hurry since these series tend to go on forever. *shrug emoji* However, the series is always a very fun read! 😀

Money Spent on Saturday

  • Nightstand – $10.00
  • Wooden Frame Holder – $1.00
  • Chipotle Cheat Meal – $10.00 – $11.00 (lost receipt)

Total Amount Spent: $22.00

LOCMom and I first went shopping on Sunday and since I have been wanting a new folding event chair for a birthday present, we went to Sportsman Warehouse and looked at their chairs! Unfortunately, we struck out. 😦 My last two places I want to look now are Wal-Mart and Shopko. We also went to World Market and Bed Bath and Beyond and did a little browsing there.

The last store we visited though was my favorite… Goodwill! I checked all of my usual haunts in the store, but I managed to find some white drawer/shelf matting (see nightstand pic) and a Life Factory water bottle for only 3 bucks! Guys… These Life Factory water bottles go for $20-$25 BRAND NEW and I got mine for 3 bucks… WITH A LID! SCORE! I know, ya’ll are thinking, “EWWW, a used water bottle! Dx” However, this water bottle has a plastic lid you can wash to make it clean again and the bottle itself is dish washer safe, so a cycle through the dish water should take the old owner’s cooties off of it. 😉 I may or may not replace the lid, but I am leaning on keeping it though. 🙂 The water bottle is also made of glass and there were no cracks in it! YUS!

After shopping, we went to visit LOCCousinC and her two kids! We had a nice visit and I even got to hold their guinea pig, Buster! Oh my gosh guys… While I was petting Buster, he was SO RELAXED in my lap. He just loved to be held! He was such a little cutie. 🙂 We had a very fun time catching up with LOCCousinC and her kids and we will be seeing her again at my birthday party soon! 😀

Also, two packages from Amazon came today! One package had two shoulder strap pads in them for my impending folding event chair that I will be buying soon and the other soulder strap will be an extra for something else. 🙂  The other package was a duvet cover! Props to one of my wonderful readers for the duvet cover idea for my bed to replace my top sheet! 😀

I know, it’s not the sexiest duvet cover setup in the world, but it did work! Ironically, when I was going to use my new duvet cover the very same day, the humidity was just too warm to use a duvet cover anymore. Booooooooo. 😦 So I put it away and I basically had to use a top sheet to sleep with at night since it is always so warm in our house during the summer. 😦

And besides buying some Tums in bulk at Walgreens, I basically relaxed all evening. 🙂

Money Spent on Sunday

  • New-ish Water Bottle – $3.19
  • White Drawer/Shelf Matting – $2.19
  • Tums (Bulk Size) – $11.25

Total Amount Spent: $16.63

So all and all, a great weekend!

But I do have some exciting news to share! Because of a formula Social Security uses to calculate how much money I am suppose to get in disability every month, for June and July only, I will be receiving a bit of a raise from what I normally get! I am so stoked and so happy! With the raise I will be recieving, I will definitely be purchasing a new mattress for myself from a local mattress company that makes mattresses. I bought my current mattress from them about 5 years ago and it really needs to be replaced. 😦 I currently have padding on my bed so I don’t really feel my now wonky mattress, but having a new mattress would make a world of difference. Especially a mattress that is locally made by people who specialize in making mattresses. ❤

As for the rest of the money I will have left over, I have already spent it on a lot of things I really needed! Those needed items included the nightstand I bought at that garage sale and the duvet cover. 🙂 I also bought more healthy food at Costco than I normally do that will benefit my diet I am on and for my health in general. And many more~~~! I am just thankful and feel so blessed. I really wish that Social Security will be expanded someday and give everyone on it a raise that they truly deserve in this day and age. I wish the United States and the whole world would even get a raise! I feel that no one should ever have to live in poverty and it would be so amazing to see poverty wiped off the face of the Earth someday and not exist anymore. That is one of my dreams I hope to see happen in my lifetime. ❤

Hoping everyone had a fun weekend! 😀

How was your weekend?
