Ask a Millennial! Do I think these foods will stop existing after the Baby Boomer generation? (Part 1!)

Hey everybody! I am SO SO SORRY that my blog has been so quiet! :C I have not been feeling too well lately and had a bout of food poisoning just recently, but I have not forgotten about the blog! I have been feeling better lately, so I hope to be more active again soon-ish! ^ _^

But today’s blog post will be a very fun post! I have recently in the past found a cool link that concludes in the line of, ‘These are the Foods that Might Die with the Baby Boomers’. And after looking at the entire list as a millennial, I will have to agree that some of these foods should be sent into retirement or in a box in huge warehouse to be carted away never to be seen again. πŸ˜€

So in today’s blog post of my ‘Ask a Millennial!’ blog series, I will be going over the list provided in the featured link and tell you what I think about all of the food on the list! Let’s get started! πŸ˜€

Canned Foods

Euuughh… Can we put these foods in a well-deserved grave now? This millennial is not into canned foods that are just processed food masking as “real” food, but in a can! It does not help that most canned foods are full of salt, sugar and unhealthy fats that nobody should be eating. Like processed foods, most canned food is the same as it. Except it is in a can!

Now there are some canned foods that I do enjoy. I don’t mind buying canned veggies and beans if they are low in salt. πŸ™‚ But if I do want veggies, I basically buy them frozen these days, heat them up in a microwave or on a stove top and consume them that way. ^ _^ I would love to be able to batch cook my very own homemade beans in an Instapot, but our apartment freezer is so small that I can’t make a lot of food at once to freeze if I ever get too lazy to make dinner. :’C

So yes, most canned foods can go straight into retirement! Their services will not be needed in the future, I am afraid. πŸ˜›

Contrary to most millennials, I do enjoy fruitcake around the holidays! πŸ˜€ Except I have only had an actual GOOD fruitcake around the holiday’s thanks to LOCMom’s family passing down their awesome recipe for fruitcake! I enjoy eating it every year during the Christmas season and have no regrets!

The only thing I would change if I was the one making the fruitcake recipe would be that instead of the artificial candied fruit that goes into fruitcakes, I would just make my own candied fruit from real fruit instead and put it in my fruitcake. πŸ™‚ All natural baby! ^ o^

Jell-O Salad

Oh god… Is this still a thing? (Let me know in the comments! :D) I remember my biological grandmother made Jell-O-ish things every Christmas, but I never partook in them as a child because they grossed me out SO. MUCH. :C There was never any vegetables in the salad like those popular Jell-O salads in the 50’s-60’s, but Kid-Me found them really gross. I think I remember as a teenager actually trying one of my grandmother’s Jell-O creations and they were just okay. : / Sweet, but not the kind of sweet that one would want to eat over and over again at parties.

But I think it would be fun to experiment with making one of these dishes with homemade Jell-O and homemade ingredients! Ergo, you would have to use food coloring probably to dye homemade Jell-O to the specific color that you want, but it would be healthier-ish! πŸ˜€ I might just try that someday. ^ _^

TV Dinners

BAAAAAAARFFF!!!!! Can these things just go away already? They are taking up WAAAAY too much of the freezer sections in grocery stores, in my honest opinion. > _<

I haven’t eaten TV Dinners in YEARS, but I do remember consuming them as a young 20-something before I started eating healthier food regularly in my older 20’s. I was raised on it, so I did not know it was not healthy for me to be eating, I am afraid. πŸ˜₯ But I have since kicked the habit and try to only eat food that has mostly real ingredients in it now. ^ _^ I find that I feel better after eating real food and I do enjoy it a lot! πŸ˜€

Oh boy, I’m not sure why this stuff hasn’t died yet but here we are… > .> Apparently according to the article, we millennials hate having cereal because we don’t like to clean up afterwards. Well, this is true. I am kind of lazy in cleaning up things right away as a millennial. D: But the dishes get done eventually! 8D

But honestly, I never really eat cereal because it is just either starch or sugar or both. D: Besides Boomers themselves, I really don’t know who eats cereal anymore… ? Haha… ^ _^;

So that is it for Part 1 of this blog series! I hope you will join me for Part 2 in the near future! πŸ˜€

Does anyone else eat any of these foods anymore?

Ask a Millennial! Are we “killing” potatoes, mayonnaise, and divorce lawyers?

Hey, everybody! I first must apologize for not having any blog posts last week or from this weekend! 😦 I’m hoping to keep things going smoothly throughout here and getting back on track! πŸ™‚

But for this week’s post, it’s time for my lovely blog series, ‘Ask A Millennial!’

In my blog series, ‘Ask a Millennial’, I discuss things that millennials like, love, hate and also things and industries that we are killing and as a fellow millennial, I give my opinion about each industry and/or thing I go over! Let’s get started!Β

I will be addressing three subjects today that have recently been reported about millennials in the news! That news reported was, “Are we killing potatoes, mayonnaise, and Β most recently, divorce lawyers?”

Well, let’s go down the list and I’ll tell you what this millennial thinks! πŸ˜€

According to this article (and many more, I’m sure πŸ™‚ ), we are killing potatoes! The articles complains reports that we do not like how long it takes to prepare potatoes and that we disregard and don not buy them because they are unhealthy. The article also says that we eat more “healthy carbohydrates” in general.

Well… As a millennial, I don’t really care about how long it takes to prepare potatoes, but I do think alot of potatos are nothing but little STARCH BOMBS. 😑 These starch bombs are nothing but empty carbs that make a person fat, from my experience with them atleast (My body was the guinnea pig. πŸ˜₯ ). Remember the old, “meat and potato diet” diet? Well, we millennials see through that unhealthy diet and we have decided, and as of I, that potatos are on the DO NOT CONSUME and DO NOT BUY from the grocery store list. As you can see, I am apart of the millennial club that thinks most potatoes are generally unhealthy to consume all of the time and if they are offered to me at dinner (sorry family 😦 ), I usually don’t have seconds of them you could say. And what do you know, the article happens to be correct about this millennial! πŸ˜€

The ONLY potatoes that I allow myself to buy are sweet potatoes and yams. Those are “good” potatos because they actually are healthy for a person to eat in moderation each day, even though they are a carbohydrate. And the article is also correct saying that I forgo potatos and buy healthier carbs. πŸ™‚ The only carby things I buy are organic whole wheat bread (I buy organic to be sure my bread is pretty clean of unhealthy additives and chemicals; the ONLY grocery store item I do not cheap out on), sweet potatoes, yams, Quest Energy Bars, Premiere Protien energy drinks, and unsalted Kirkland Nut Bars from Costco. That’s it ya’ll : / And to be honest, I do buy candy sometimes to snack on. C: But THAT’S IT. > _<

As you can see, not really a lot of unhealthy carbs going on there in my list of foods that I buy. πŸ™‚ Plus, all of my food and drinks I buy, carby stuff or not, I always make sure are low sugar and not high in sugar, salt and fat. I have been overweight for my height before in life before my diet/eating lifestyle change and I plan on not going back there again anytime soon and FOREVER. So yo ho ho ho ho, a healthy eating lifestyle for me! ~~~ πŸ˜€

Now according to this article, millennials are also killing mayonnaise! Oh, the inhumanity of it all… > ___> Also, one of my readers also asked me this very same question a long time ago, so I will finally be addressing it today, haha. ^ _^;

Honestly, I don’t remember the last time I bought mayonnaise besides once this year when I bought some light mayonnaise for my avocado toast to try putting into my mashed avocado spread, but that is it. *shrug emoji*Β Until that moment, I don’t think I have ever bought mayonnaise for myself except for maybe once, twice, or three times throughout my entire 20’s probably. LOCMom always buys and keeps a jar of mayonnaise on hand anyway, so I never really took the initiative to buy it ever… Plus, as the article says, I don’t think mayonaise is very healthy to eat in general even though I think it is delicious. πŸ˜€ I mean, I love you Mayonnaise, but let’s just stay friends, okay? Dx

Not much to say about Mayonnaise but just that this millennial doesn’t eat it regularly, haha. ;D

Divorce Lawyers

And last but not least, according to this article, us millennials are putting divorce lawyers out of business now! Boo hoo? : / Apparently, us millennials are marrying later and are being incredibly picky on who we marry and if we do get married, we are staying married. What is so wrong with this you ask? Well… nothing really, to be honest with all of you. : | So everyone break out your small violins and start playing them for all of the divorce lawyers we millennials are putting out work. 9 _9

To be honest with you, I have thought of marriage and honestly, I don’t think marraige will be happening in my life anytime soon if ever (sorry again family 😦 ). I am afraid I have read one too many stories about how significant others can turn out to be jerks, turn into jerks, are complete clutter bugs, hide their debt from you sometimes before getting married, and me being on SSI, people may see me as a perfect abuse target to take advantage of because of my very low income making me trapped in a relationship and making me dependent on my spouse’s income completely. It’s just not going to work out in the end, I’m afraid. So for now, I have deemed a life of singlehood for me to be perfect for me at the moment and honestly, I am loving it! I don’t have to worry about pleasing another person romantically and it’s all about me! To be honest, I would marry myself if I could. πŸ˜‰

But infinite cheers to all of my millennial cohorts who have found that wonderful man or woman who completes them and three cheers and beyond for all of them staying together because they actually love each other, dang it! > _< πŸ˜€ The Divorce Lawyers are still lawyers, so they will just have to find another line of lawyering work to do. Maybe helping my fellow millennials who have a bunch of college debt get out of their debt maybe and taking on those god awful student loan loan shark companies that always pick on millennials these days for MOAR AND MOAR money after they leave college after graduating? That would be nice. πŸ™‚

So yes, all of these things that I have gave my opinion on are pretty irrelevant to me you could say, haha. πŸ˜› Besides mayonnaise, I will be pretty happy to see most of these things go in the future. πŸ™‚ As they say, or at least I say, “ADAPT OR DIE.” πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What do you think about these dying things? Do you think they are still relevent today?

Ask a Millennial! Are we killing top sheets?

Hey everybody! Unfortunately, as you may have noticed, there was no Weekend Update this week. The reason being is because on the day I was going to type it up (being Monday), our power went out! And it was already Tuesday when the power came back on, so yeah. 😦 But there will be one next weekend for sure! πŸ˜€

But today’s post is my blog series called, “Ask a Millennial!” In this blog series, I talk about everything millennials like myself like, dislike, and what industries and stuff we may or may not be “killing”. πŸ˜› LetsΒ get started!

One of my awesome readers suggested I review this article at some time for this blog series, so I would like to thank that reader for their contribution to help me keep this blog series up and running! πŸ˜€ So the question is: Are millinnials killing top sheets? If you ever asked me taht question before I knew what a top sheet was, I would have been like, “Whaaaaat? D: “ Like, unless you explain what those things are to a lot of us millennials, we probably won’t know what you are talking about unless we are very familiar with them. So for my similar aged readers, I will explain what a top sheet is. A top is that flat sheet you put on your bed that goes over the main sheet that goes under your matress and you sleep under the top sheet along with your blankets on top of the top sheet. A top sheet basically keeps your blankets from getting all smelly and gross from our fleshy human bodies. πŸ˜› Simple, right? πŸ™‚

So… do I use a top sheet? Yes I do, but honestly, it’s not really a big deal to me. *shrug* And I will tell you why…

So here is a picture of my humble bed:

Yeeeeees… As you can see, I honestly just make my bed up so everything in basically fitted just enough, like the sheets, so it will not come undone and will not look too messy. And that light brown sheet in front of my bed under all of the blankets? Well, that’sΒ the top sheet. πŸ˜› Notice how I do not tuck it under my mattress. That’s because I’m a lazy millennial whose bed never sees other human eyes besides LOCMom’s and mine, so I have no other people to impress really. *shrugs* Don’t have a significant other yet, so there is no one to really care all that much how my bed is made besides myself. πŸ˜›

Also, the reason I really don’t care about having a top sheet in general is because those blankets on my bed are basically 100% polyester. Meaning, they are completely washable and if they do get all sweaty and gross from my fleshy body, I can just put them in the washing machine and clean them. πŸ˜› I’ve got to be honest though, they haven’t been washed in a while, but as it heats up weather wise, I will probably have to start putting them all away and just using only one of them to sleep with. But I loooove being perfectly warm at night at theΒ right temperature, so I hope these cool nights will last a little longer! πŸ˜€

But I do agree that everyone should make their bed before you have to go to sleep in your bed each night! You don’t have to do it right away after you wake up, but it just feels better when you get ready to go to bed and your bed is already made and ready to go for the night. πŸ™‚

So yeah… That is what I think of top sheets. πŸ™‚ In all honesty, since a lot of millennials like myself don’t have a lot of money in the first place and can’t afford to buy a house right now or maybe even never in some cases :(, I honestly think they are not even on our radar of things to buy. Plus they are so damn expensive for a good top sheet let alone a good 100% cotton sheet pack that probably includes one in it. 😦 I even look at sheet prices at TJMAXX and I’m like, “That’s a lot of money, ya’ll. How can I afford something like this? 😦 “ That’ why if I ever had own place, I would be looking in sheet sections in thrift stores for 100% cotton sheets since they are cheaper in thrift stores. I know, I know… Bedbugs, Ms. LOC! Bedbugs! But I would only look for sheets at fancypants thrift stores instead of say, Goodwill. In the past, I have worked at a Goodwill drop-off location for their job training program and you wouldn’t believe how many people use those places like their personal trashcan. 😦 And worse, we had to dig through the trashy bags that they donated to us just to get stuff out of them just to sell at Goodwill. So yeah… I wouldn’t go buying sheets from Goodwill unless you absolutely HAVE TO and know that there are no bed bugs on the sheet, or sheets, you will be buying from Goodwill. Just saying. o _o So.. Buy at your own risk. πŸ˜›

So… Top sheet or naw? For me, it really doesn’t matter. I have no one to impress in my life yet with fancy sheets I could buy and LOCMom has plenty of sheets for our home, but it’s always an extra bnous to put something on my bed that will make me not have to wash my 100% polyester blankets so much! Woot woot for that! πŸ˜€

How do you feel about top sheets?
