What I Did This Weekend + My Dumpster Haul! + Konmari Styled Linen Closet (January 26-28, 2019)

Hey, everybody! It’s been so looooooong since I have done a Weekend Update/What I have been up to post, so I am going to be getting back into it today! Come and see what I did this weekend!

On Saturday, LOCMom and I went to visit LOCAuntS! She was doing pretty good and I even gave her a Kirkland brand applesauce pouch to try which she seemed to like! I’m just hoping she finished all of it eventually because I don’t think she was hungry enough to finish the entire pouch, haha. ^ _^; I also told her I would bring her some Macha green tea next time I came over to see her! The cool thing about Macha green tea is that it actually turns your tea water green in your cup instead of that ugly yellow color that most American green tea brands do to one’s tea water. x _o Plus, it tastes better! ;D

After visiting LOCAuntS, I went thrfting and LOCMom bought me a children’s piano (with IOU money, of course ^ _^; )! I’ve been craving to pluck at piano keys for a while now and maybe even learn how to play the piano someday, but after looking up on the internet of how learning the piano is reeeeeally, difficult, I’m just going to put that dream in a drawer for now, haha… O _X;;;

Also, I have an update on LOCFishy Leon. A few days ago, I put Leon in a smaller tank and after a few days, I realized it was killing him. :C So I put him back in his regular 2 gallonΒ tank and he is happier again. At least I am hoping so. The reason why I put him a smaller tank (1 gallon bowl) was because I though with having less water in the tank, he would not be as cold in it. Well… After reading on the internet, 1 gallon tanks really suck for any fish and they are NOT recommended at all. I learned that the hard way. :’C Hoping Leon will be okay now, but since he is nearing 3 years of age, he may pass away in the near future. Not looking forward to it. πŸ˜₯

I also had a wonderful dinner on Saturday! Macha green tea and two clementines, or two Cuties! It was delish, haha. * o*

After dinner, I hung up my laundry I did a few days ago and that is always a chore, haha. @ _@;;;

And on Sunday, I believe I went to Costco and that is always fun. πŸ™‚ I also got to catch up with many an LOC family member on Sunday and it was great talking to everyone again! ^ _^

Dumpster Hauls!

I still can’t believe what people throw out. It’s crazy! 😑 The two craziest items I have found most recently in our apartment complex’s dumpsters or by them was an expensive racing bike (donated it to Goodwill) and most MOST recently, somebody’s FREAKIN’ PASSPORT. I mean, guys… You don’t put your expired passport into a dumpster, more less ON TOP of said dumpster full of trash with your information clear as day on it, and call it good! I’m so happy I spotted it when I did because it was a child’s passport. Bad parenting 101, anybody? – _____-

So I did what any good citizen/person (or parent) would do with an expired passport, or a parent’s child’s passport. I got one of my king-sized Sharpies that I use to block out addresses on my Amazon packages I get and scribbled out all of this young person’s personal information in their passport including the stamps they received when going to other countries. I then gave the passport to our apartment’s office which the staff members there said they would put it in their confidential paper file box to be destroyed appropriately.

There… BAD PARENTING FLAW FIXED. 😑 Uggghh… So yeah, that is my fun dumpster story of the week, haha. πŸ˜›

Now to my hauls!

Check em’ all out! πŸ˜€

haul 1
Random stuff found in a dumpster. Nothing wrong with any of it… > _> Lunchbox was unzipped so the inside of it could be featured. ^ _^
haul 2
Clothing steamer! Tried it and it works like a dream!
Working label maker! All it needed was new batteries! πŸ˜€
haul 3
Outdoor sprays/cleaning/house supplies. Btw, that toilet brush was never use/still had its tag on it. πŸ˜‰
haul 4
Close-up of my new headlamp! All it needed was new batteries and it worked great!

Yup, I scored! ^ o^ I’m keeping half of the electronics I found though and I will be donating the label maker to my new place where I will be volunteering at soon! I kept a few of the cleaning/house supplies that I found and put the rest I did not want outside of the dumpster in a box so other people could take them if they wanted them. πŸ™‚ I kept the Clorox cleaning wipes and the trash bags though! Those things will definitely will come in handy around the house! ^ _^ The new headlamp I found will work great in emergency situations as well! πŸ˜€

Konmari Styled Linen Closet!

So, I’m not sure if I mentioned this yet, but in the past I have wanted to be a Professional Organizer. You know, like Marie Kondo but without the Shintoism in her decluttering methods. πŸ™‚ But they didn’t really work out due to my life situation, so I had to give up that dream up and just declutter stuff by myself in my own living spaces.

And when I declutterΒ stuff, I do a DAMN good job if I do say so myself! πŸ˜‰ Marie Kondo also helped me make my life easier with her folding techniques she uses on clothing and other cloth-like items! Thank you, Marie! ^ u^ Because of her folding techniques, I am able to give myself more space inside of my drawers and cabinets so more things can get put into them maybe in the near future!

Anyway, without further ado, check out the decluttered linen closet! 8D

I do not joke when I say I wanted to be a Professional Organizer in the past, haha. πŸ˜‰ Of course, this entire linen closet is not completely KonMari’d concerning the contents in it. Sometimes I have to use my own folding methods to get things to fit smaller into the closet with some KonMari-ish inspired folding techniques. B) Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the whole picture of linen closet in one shot because it is so long. πŸ˜₯ But hey, I hope everyone likes seeing my hard work anyway! ^ o^

So yup, that is basically everything I have been up to. ^ _^ Hoping everyone has a wonderful week!

What have you been up to?

What did I do this Weekend? (October 28-29, 2018) + Two Announcements!

Hi, everybody! I am SO SORRY there was no blog post last week. πŸ˜₯ My mental illness symptoms and some depression vibes just hit me like a truck last week and I did not feel like writing anything. 😦 But I feel great today, so I can totally write now! πŸ˜€

But first…

An Announcement!

So a few of you know this already and I have not announced it as of yet, but I do have a Facebook page for my blog. A few of my awesome readers have found it seems, so I wanted to make an announcement about it. πŸ™‚

My Living on Cents Facebook page is not entirely set up yet however. It’s been like that for a while… I do have plans to update it, but I have been lazy… for a long time now. Dx I was going to announce it once I had it all set up, but I just decided to announce it now to everyone. πŸ™‚

I would like to link my Facebook page onto my blog, but with this free website blog designed webpage, if I did that, it would feature broken links to Twitter, Instragram, ect. as well. Not very professional. : / So I have yet to have done any social media stuff with my blog until now because of that. : /

But if anyone else would like to follow my Facebook page for Living on Cents, I will link it below! Be sure to follow it because I do post my new blog updates onto it immediately usually. πŸ™‚ Once more though, it is still under construction, but I do post updates there constantly so no one misses a thing! πŸ˜€

What did I do this Weekend?

So let’s get started with what I did this weekend! Come and see what I did!

On Saturday, the local library had my books I put on hold ready to be picked up! So LOCMom drove me over there to pick up my books! Now that I live in an area where the library has all of the manga books I’ve been wanting to read, there is no need to buy them anymore! πŸ˜€ WINNING! * O*

And when I got home, I saw a moving truck by my apartment. And ya’ll know that means. Regardless if someone is moving in or moving out, the people from said apartment will be throwing out perfectly good stuff by the nearest dumpster by their moving truck. Which happens to be the one by my apartment! πŸ˜€

So I scuttled over there as quickly as I could and sure enough, there was “treasure”! ^ o^

And yes, I am a proud dumpster diver, but the most polite, cleanest, courtesy, and kind dumpster diver you will ever meet. ;DΒ You can basically say that I leave the dumpster area cleaner than I found it. πŸ™‚ Now I do not HOP INTO dumpsters, I just kind of “skim” the top of them. πŸ˜› Β Around my apartment’s dumpsters, you would not believe what people throw away. 😦 For all of the perfectly usable stuff I find in the dumpsters that I do not want, I take it all to one of our local thrift stores and drop the stuff off there. Give it a new home, y’know? πŸ˜€

As for the stuff I do find that I want to keep, it is taken into my apartment, sterilized, and is gratefully used! πŸ˜€

Check out some of the finds I found this weekend!

Purify Air Rotating Fan – WORKS PERFECTLY! πŸ˜€
Made in USA Ironing Board – also works perfectly! πŸ˜€
Going/Went to the thrift store! ❀

After finding stuff by the dumpster, I settled in and watched Dr. Reverend William J. Barber, II talk to an audience that is part of a movement call the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. I am always missing their live videos of their events on Facebook, but I managed to catch this one and WOW! Dr. Reverend Barber really laid down what all of us like myself who have been stepped on and are STILL being stepped on by the rich and other corrupt leaders in our country, whether they be democrat or republican, have been thinking this whole time! It was really nice to be able to hear someone reaffirm that people like me are not crazy, but know the truth.

I’m not going to get to into the things the Reverend talked about here, but I will provide two links below to the Poor People’s Campaign Facebook page and a page on their website about their campaign if anyone wishes to learn more about thier campaign. πŸ™‚ Spoiler Alert: Martin Luther King started the campaign a long time ago. πŸ˜€

On Sunday, LOCMom and I went to the mall in a town next over! My $10 off anything Christopher & Banks coupon was expiring that day and you betcha’ I wasn’t going to waste it! πŸ™‚ Couldn’t really find anything in Christopher & Banks that I wanted, so I bought LOCMom some reading glasses/sun glasses with my coupon. The glasses were I think $12.99, but with the $10 off coupon, they were around $3.50. πŸ™‚ LOCMom liked them a lot! LOCMom also bought me a pink blanket for my bed from Macy’s clearence section that I have been wanting because it is getting colder at night in my town. Love it so far! πŸ˜€

At home, LOCMom and I made chicken enchiladas as well! Ergo, they could have used more cheese, but we only had so much of it. ;'( But still, they were quite tasty!

YUMMY! ^ o^

Recipe Here!

So that is it for this weekend! Hoping to have a fun weekend next weekend as well! πŸ˜€

One More Announcement!

One more small announcement everyone! Next month, since my finances will be back in order, my weekend spending + monthly budget check-ins will be returning next month! So please look forward to them! πŸ˜€

How was your weekend?
