What did I do/buy this Weekend? (November 3-4, 2018)

Hey, everybody! This weekend was pretty busy, but also a lot of fun!

Also, because my finances are a little wonky this month as well, I am going to probably change the setup of my mini weekend spending logs. Instead of listing everything I bought during a weekend, I am just going to highlight a few items that I really liked that I purchased! This is going to be an experiment for this month, but if I happen to like it, I’ll change the mini spending log format to just featured items and what I paid for them instead! Plus, you guys will get to see what the stuff I buy looks like! πŸ˜€

Also, I will be omitting my $5 Friday section in my Weekend Updates because I just don’t go to Safeway much anymore to keep featuring it. \ (‘ u’) / It will make a return when I do get something fun at Safeway though during a week though! πŸ˜€

Anyway, come and see what I did this weekend!Β

It was the day of LOCCousinJ’s birthday party and LOCMom and I had to drive to a neighboring town in order to attend! But while LOCMom went to the casino to gamble a bit, she dropped my off at the town’s Snowline Thrift Store and you betcha’ I shopped til’ I dropped! πŸ˜€ All of the Snowlines in our area were having their big Christmas Sale and at this particular Snowline, it’s as if the thriftΒ store threw up all of their Xmas stuff! O _O I mean, who needs to buy retail when you can just go to a thrift store for all of your Christmas needs? πŸ˜‰

Gently used fake Christmas tree’s anyone? xD

So I perused the store for about 2 hours and bought a lot of fun stuff! I even bought some UGG slippers, but to my utter shock and surprise, I looked to see if there were any fake UGGs on the market and ya’ll… The market for fake UGGs is ABSOLUTELY SATURATED. I think it’s just as bad if not worse than the fake coach purse problem. And not surprisingly, the “UGGs” I bought were fakes. That’s $5 I will never see again… V _v But now, at least I am armed with knowledge with spotting real and fake UGGs! > _<;

After shopping at Snowline, LOCMom and I went to LOCCousinJ’s birthday party! LOCCousinJ was celebrating his second birthday and when we got to the party, he was having a really fun time playing with his bubble making machine! It was great to see most of my family members in one place since we do not get together too often all in one place since everyone lives so far away from each other. πŸ™‚ For the main meal at the party, LOCCousinM cooked Costco hamburgers which tasted awesome! πŸ˜€ And when LOCCousinJ was opening his presents, when he got to ours, we had given him a dump truck that was Made in the USA and I think was made out of compostable plastic! Hooray for green toys! ^ _^

After the party, LOCMom and I went home to this BEAUTIFUL sunset overlooking Sacramento County! ^ _^

I will never get tired of this! πŸ˜€

However, the sunset looked better in real life to me, haha… ^ _^;

On Sunday, LOCMom and I started the day by going to Hop Sing Palace in Folsom, CA! And ya’ll… That restaurant was ON FIRE with the food making! Everything was so fresh and tasty! Looking forward to going back! πŸ˜€

After lunch, we went to the mall in the town over since I needed to buy a few things. Our first stop was at See’s Candy for a free sample and then I went to Christopher&Banks to spend a very generous coupon! With that coupon, I was able to score two winter shirts that were 100% cotton for $14.00 even! Not bad! πŸ˜€ The coupon was the main reason I went to the mall, so I was happy to be able to use it!

After the mall, I then had to go and get some new night anti-aging facial cream at TJMAXX and I found some that was perfect! I also picked up some Bar Keeper’s Friend while I was there as well!

After TJMAXX, we then headed home. πŸ™‚

Stuff I Bought This Weekend

So here is the new column! Let’s begin!

So I am always on the lookout for things I can use in Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes and these pencils I can definitely use! I am hoping they will definitely be a hit with the kids! However, some of the erasers on the pencils do suck, so what I usually do when I find out that the erasers are bad on wooden pencils like these is that I rip the matal part of the pencil with some metal plyers and replace the old crappy eraser with a rubber eraser cap instead that actuallyΒ erases pencil lines well. πŸ˜€ I’m REALLY crossing my fingers that the people inspecting my boxes won’t take out these “damaged” pencils when I made my best efforts to “fix” them, but if they do, I hope they give the pencils to a good home. πŸ˜₯

Glow in the Dark Race Track!

So ever since seeing this on QVC, I have always wanted my own and it is miiiiiiiiine finally! πŸ˜€ After this blog post, I may go play with this, haha. xP The great thing about this particular buy is that everything was new in the box unopened! It’s going to be fun setting up this toy, haha… ^ _^

So these little guys I just bought at Costco today! I know, it’s not a weekend purchase, but I just had to share them! x3 These macaroons are Made in France and there was like 30-40 of them in one box! And for these at this size going for $2.00-$2.50 each at any old fancypants bakery, I got a screamin’ deal on em’! They’re also very tasty and I froze them all for future snacking! x3

The reason why there doesn’t seem to be 30-40 macaroons here is because I was snacking on them today xD;

Kitchen Mat!

So the other kitchen mat we had was thin and was not the most comfortable kitchen mat ever that was Made in the USA. 😦 So I bought another kitchen mat at Costco today and it is much better comfort wise! Again, not a weekend find, but a great find! LOCMom and I love it! πŸ™‚ But now that we have two of these same type of mats (one for the stove and one for the sink), we’re golden! πŸ˜€

Dirt Rug!

Last not-weekend find would be a dirt rug I found at Costco today as well! Basically, when the rainy season arrives and even now, whenever you come inside, you just wipe your feet off on this big rug and the bottom of your shoes get cleaned off!

I also bought an outdoor rug Made in the USA that is used to wipe the muck off of your shoes from outside as well! I have been wanting this particular outdoor rug for a while now and when I finally found it at Costco again in literally at the BACK CORNER OF THE STORE, I was ecstatic that they still had a few left to buy! And snatched them up I did! πŸ˜€ A young women also came up to my basket in Costco asking where I got the outdoor rug and I told where it was located in Costco, so I’m really hoping she found it in the store. πŸ˜€

So on Saturday before LOCCousinJ’s birthday party, I went out to vote early at my local polling place! WOOT WOOT! There was NO WAY I was going out to vote during this particular Election Day tomorrow since everything would be CRAZY. So I voted early! ^ _^

And to everyone else in the United States, go out and vote tomorrow and vote often! This Election Day may be the most important Election Day in the history of our country and I would hate for any of you guys to miss out on participating in where our country’s leadership will go from here. Get out and vote tomorrow and have fun! Stay safe as well! πŸ˜€

What did you do this weekend?

What did I do this Weekend? (October 28-29, 2018) + Two Announcements!

Hi, everybody! I am SO SORRY there was no blog post last week. πŸ˜₯ My mental illness symptoms and some depression vibes just hit me like a truck last week and I did not feel like writing anything. 😦 But I feel great today, so I can totally write now! πŸ˜€

But first…

An Announcement!

So a few of you know this already and I have not announced it as of yet, but I do have a Facebook page for my blog. A few of my awesome readers have found it seems, so I wanted to make an announcement about it. πŸ™‚

My Living on Cents Facebook page is not entirely set up yet however. It’s been like that for a while… I do have plans to update it, but I have been lazy… for a long time now. Dx I was going to announce it once I had it all set up, but I just decided to announce it now to everyone. πŸ™‚

I would like to link my Facebook page onto my blog, but with this free website blog designed webpage, if I did that, it would feature broken links to Twitter, Instragram, ect. as well. Not very professional. : / So I have yet to have done any social media stuff with my blog until now because of that. : /

But if anyone else would like to follow my Facebook page for Living on Cents, I will link it below! Be sure to follow it because I do post my new blog updates onto it immediately usually. πŸ™‚ Once more though, it is still under construction, but I do post updates there constantly so no one misses a thing! πŸ˜€

What did I do this Weekend?

So let’s get started with what I did this weekend! Come and see what I did!

On Saturday, the local library had my books I put on hold ready to be picked up! So LOCMom drove me over there to pick up my books! Now that I live in an area where the library has all of the manga books I’ve been wanting to read, there is no need to buy them anymore! πŸ˜€ WINNING! * O*

And when I got home, I saw a moving truck by my apartment. And ya’ll know that means. Regardless if someone is moving in or moving out, the people from said apartment will be throwing out perfectly good stuff by the nearest dumpster by their moving truck. Which happens to be the one by my apartment! πŸ˜€

So I scuttled over there as quickly as I could and sure enough, there was “treasure”! ^ o^

And yes, I am a proud dumpster diver, but the most polite, cleanest, courtesy, and kind dumpster diver you will ever meet. ;DΒ You can basically say that I leave the dumpster area cleaner than I found it. πŸ™‚ Now I do not HOP INTO dumpsters, I just kind of “skim” the top of them. πŸ˜› Β Around my apartment’s dumpsters, you would not believe what people throw away. 😦 For all of the perfectly usable stuff I find in the dumpsters that I do not want, I take it all to one of our local thrift stores and drop the stuff off there. Give it a new home, y’know? πŸ˜€

As for the stuff I do find that I want to keep, it is taken into my apartment, sterilized, and is gratefully used! πŸ˜€

Check out some of the finds I found this weekend!

Purify Air Rotating Fan – WORKS PERFECTLY! πŸ˜€
Made in USA Ironing Board – also works perfectly! πŸ˜€
Going/Went to the thrift store! ❀

After finding stuff by the dumpster, I settled in and watched Dr. Reverend William J. Barber, II talk to an audience that is part of a movement call the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. I am always missing their live videos of their events on Facebook, but I managed to catch this one and WOW! Dr. Reverend Barber really laid down what all of us like myself who have been stepped on and are STILL being stepped on by the rich and other corrupt leaders in our country, whether they be democrat or republican, have been thinking this whole time! It was really nice to be able to hear someone reaffirm that people like me are not crazy, but know the truth.

I’m not going to get to into the things the Reverend talked about here, but I will provide two links below to the Poor People’s Campaign Facebook page and a page on their website about their campaign if anyone wishes to learn more about thier campaign. πŸ™‚ Spoiler Alert: Martin Luther King started the campaign a long time ago. πŸ˜€

On Sunday, LOCMom and I went to the mall in a town next to Folsom! My $10 off anything Christopher & Banks coupon was expiring that day and you betcha’ I wasn’t going to waste it! πŸ™‚ Couldn’t really find anything in Christopher & Banks that I wanted, so I bought LOCMom some reading glasses/sun glasses with my coupon. The glasses were I think $12.99, but with the $10 off coupon, they were around $3.50. πŸ™‚ LOCMom liked them a lot! LOCMom also bought me a pink blanket for my bed from Macy’s clearence section that I have been wanting because it is getting colder at night in Folsom. Love it so far! πŸ˜€

At home, LOCMom and I made chicken enchiladas as well! Ergo, they could have used more cheese, but we only had so much of it. ;'( But still, they were quite tasty!

YUMMY! ^ o^

Recipe Here!

So that is it for this weekend! Hoping to have a fun weekend next weekend as well! πŸ˜€

One More Announcement!

One more small announcement everyone! Next month, since my finances will be back in order, my weekend spending + monthly budget check-ins will be returning next month! So please look forward to them! πŸ˜€

How was your weekend?

What did I do this Weekend? (Plus my Goodwill haul + an announcement!)

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day, everybody! ^ o^

Maaaaaaan, what a weekend! This weekend was very active and I had a lot of fun! I will be including Goodwill haul from today as well, so stick around until the end for that! πŸ˜€

But I do have an announcement I need to make. There will not be any Monthly Budget Check Up posts for last month or this month due to real life issues. Sorry everyone, things have been crazy in my life at the moment and you could say it is even ridiculous, so no Monthly Budget Check-Up Posts for last month or in October for those reasons. No mini spending logs either for the Weekend Update posts as well for October too, unfortunately. 😦 I am hoping things will go back to normal next month though. Fingers crossed!

Also, as you have may have noticed, I have been switching my blog’sΒ domain name back and forth and have finally got a .com domain name that doesn’t have the word ‘blog’ in it! Incredibly happy about that! πŸ˜€ So I can say in short, that my new blog’s domain name, ‘http://www.livingoncents.com‘ will probably be permanent. I don’t plan on changing it again anytime soon and I’m pretty happy about it! πŸ˜€ Sorry for any trouble it caused for any of you guys that have my blog bookmarked for future reading. 😦

Weekend Update

Back to the Weekend Update! Come and see what I did this weekend! ^ o^

So when I got up first thing Saturday morning, LOCMom reported that the power was out! Again. – _- I don’t know what it is about the area we live in in Folsom that makes the power go out all of the time, but it is dang weird. :/ But after one call to the power company by LOCMom, the power was turned back on! Woot woot!

And since it was the first weekend in October, the local Spendypants thrift store, Snowline, was having their monthly 50% off sale! You betcha’ I went to that sale and bought some stuff! But while waiting in line, I met a woman who was a kindred spirit! She was very nice Β and we had a wonderful chat with each other while waiting in line. πŸ™‚ She told me she loved finding treasures at thrift stores and owned a baby grand piano from Europe! She also played the piano as well, so I bet that baby grand gets a lot of use, haha. πŸ˜€

I couldn’t help but notice from talking to her that she may have been… a person on FIRE (Financially Independent/Retired Early). O _O She even mentioned she used some of her savings for a medical treatment of hers and when I said my goodbyes to her and I went out to the car, I saw her loading her car up and it was a hatchback Subaru. A lady who owns a baby grand piano from Europe driving a hatchback Subaru that DIDN’t look like the latest model of that vehicle. Yup, that screams a person on FIRE if you ask me! πŸ˜€ Or maybe even a secret millionaire! O _O Well, whatever the circumstance was, one could tell she was probably a pretty wise person with her cash. πŸ™‚ A kindred spirit indeed! I just feel bad that if she went back to look at the CDs and how she expressed that she liked the classical music CDs in my basket that she wasn’t going to find very many of them in the CD section because… I’m afraid I bought almost al of them. O _O;;; Forgot to mention that to her if she went to look for other classical music CDs, but I hope she found some good CDs anyway! πŸ˜€ More on my recently bought CDs later! ^ _^

Then after Snowline, LOCMom and I went to visit LOCGrandpa! LOCAunt was there having lunch with him and LOCmom and I visited with him for a while. πŸ™‚ I even put on some music from when he was young that he always enjoyed listening to. ^ _^ After visiting with LOCGrandpa, LOCAunt and LOCMom and I all went to St. Vincent’s thrift store in Sacramento and shopped a little bit there! Unfortunately, LOCAunt had to leave early, but I managed to find a new red fuzzy peacoat, a CD case carrier, and a shirt for the winter time! Gotta’ to get ready for winter, so shopping thrift stores for winter clothes is always a good thing! πŸ˜€

After getting home, that evening up until late at night, I threw myself a CD scanning party! πŸ˜€ All of those CDs I bought for 64 cents a pop at Snowline I ripped to my iPhone and now the songs on them can be enjoyed in a digital format! πŸ˜€ I’m gonna’ become one of those Luddites though because I plan on keeping my CDs that I bought so if I have to rip them to another device that is outside of iTunes someday, I will still have them on me thus not trapping all of my music on iTunes entirely! That is, if CDs are not obsolete by then. If that time comes (and it probably will in the near future), then I will chuck out all of them. πŸ™‚ Preferably recycle them at Best Buy. ^ _^

RIP CD cases! *insert laugh/cry emoji here* I will be using my new CD carrying case I bought at St. Vincents to store all of my CDs for the time being. πŸ™‚

On Sunday, we met LOCAunt at our local Costco and had lunch there! For my lunch, I had a few bites of a Churro… For the FIRST TIME EVER! O _O Oh my god… Why haven’t I have eaten this delicious pencil-like donut all of my life? T _TΒ I will definitely be getting another Churro someday in the future! πŸ˜€

And alas, our garage and car were absolutely dirty, so I took that Sunday afternoon to get everything cleaned up! While cleaning the garage, I rescued perfectly good household supplies out of one of our apartment’s dumpsters that I will be donating to a local thrift store! PERFECTLY GOOD STUFF… IN THE TRASH. > _< Ya’ll wouldn’t believe what people throw out around here. Dx

I also gave our new downstairs LOCNeighbors’ child a soccer ball I bought last month at Safeway for $3.50. I had bought four soccer balls from Safeway for $3.50 a pop for the poorer kids in our area around the holidays, but I decided to part with one. πŸ™‚ Their child seemed to appreciate the soccer ball since they do play soccer. πŸ˜€

And that was pretty much it for my Sunday! No $5 Friday haul because we didn’t need anything at Safeway this Friday and I am happy with amount of sweets I have in the freezer already. πŸ™‚

Goodwill Haul

YA’LL READY FOR THIS?! 8D Check out my Goodwill haul I got from Goodwill’s 50% off sale today!

gw haul 10

Minus the blue Trader Joe’s freezer bag, all of this was $50! πŸ˜€ I must admit, some of these items was indeed a bunch of “wants”, but I’m always happy to buy things that make me happy and give me joy at an outrageous discount. ^ _^ But there were some things I did need in this pile of stuff. πŸ˜€

The paper cutter I plan on making a blog post forΒ for a party game that I will be making in the future! The paper cutter will help me cut straight lines for the party game cards I am going to make. πŸ˜€ And then on top of the paper cutter is a Brita filter! Y’know, just sitting there on the Goodwill shelf for a dollar. Snatched that thing up REAL QUICK and I’m hoping it is not too old that it is not usable anymore. 😦 Crossing my fingers! The scarfs and the pea coats I do collect and for each scarf under 3 bucks and the Anne Klein pea coat I bought today for only $6.50, that’s a steal! πŸ™‚ The CDs I bought were mostly Christmas music and for 1.50 a pop for 12-24 songs on each CD vs. one song in the iTunes store for $1.29 each, another steal! πŸ˜€

As for the rest of the stuff, I will either be using, wearing for the winter time, or reading it. πŸ™‚ Now as for that flower towel… Here I thought it was a dish rag, but after closely examining it further, LOCMom informed me it is a towel for wiping golf clubs down! O _o Opps… Well… From what I can tell you, I grabbed this towel for 50 cents because it was from a Hawaiian resort and it was made in Belgium… FANCY! =O That was the main reason why I grabbed it. A fancy dish towel that looked brand new, from a Hawaiian resort, AND was Made in Belgium? Sign me up! πŸ˜€ Don’t know what I will do with it now, but LOCMom says she wants it. We’ll do something with it, I guess. πŸ™‚

There was also a polyester throw blanket I bought for $1.50 that is not in the picture that I was going to use for my computer chair in my room (the seat is getting dirty), but LOCMom loved it and wanted it instead to use for it’s intended purpose though. Happy it got a good home anyway! πŸ˜€

So yes, a very wonderful weekend! Can’t wait for the next! ^ o^

How was your weekend?
